Anybody thinking of Ribbing to the Isles Of Scilly next year.
I would be up for joining a cruise over a weekend perhaps.
Food for thought there......................
Merry Xmas!

At last a fellow cornishman.

I am up for a trip. But make sure it doesn't clash with the Gig Championships like last year so that we can get some accomodation.

Probably best to make it on a 3 day weekend, so that you have 1 full day to explore the isles.

Scillies

I would be up for that.
Over a 3 day weekend.
May / June perhaps?

Brian has organised this for BIBOA in the past although I don't think he will be this year due to his bad back - but has offered some assistance to anyone wanting to organise it through BIBOA.

I must get in touch with Alan Priddy who is the new BIBOA cruising co-ordinator.

As Duncan so kindly points out, it would be irresponsible of me at this time to commit to this cruise next year, although I would jolly well like to be there.

Instead, please read the Trip Report, List of Waypoints and About This Cruise here:
http://www.biboa.com/~sicruise/
Click on Scilly Isles 2004

This should hopefully answer a lot of questions for those who have not cruised there before.
In addition, if I can answer any questions or provide assistance to anyone planning this trip, please let me know and I will do my best.

Almost Cornish (21yrs here, 5 years Essex!!! shhhhh)

Have to see if I can get away from work (Hotel Tresanton) for 3 days first.....
Would it be best to tow RIBs down to PZ and go from there?
Generally how long does it take to cross to Scilly?
Would my SR4 cope and keep up?

You are more cornish than me (Only 13 years)

I should imagine that size is no limit as you will be in company with other boats and the crossing from Lands end to St Marys isn't that far really.

Hopefully my boat will be permanently on the water but if range is a problem it would probably be better to launch from Penzance, plus long stay parking is easier there.

We might be interested in making the trip from Salcombe if it doesn't clash with the racing schedule of course!

Brian has done an excellent job of organising the Cruises in the West. Like me, Brian may not be doing much boating in 2005 but that doesnt stop us organising events from the comfort of our homes If you are saying that you want a cruise to the Scillies then I will put it in the BIBOA programe. Give me prefered dates. Your wishes are my command. (Well it is the panto season!) Alan P

I'd love to do the scilies again (went with Brian and gang in 2004) would prob. tow to plymouth and cruise down by sea again.

Superb trip.

4m is small, very small for this trip but from lands end with a good or OK weather window quite possiable. Never underestimate the altantic!

Top Banana was "uncomfortable" at times keeping up with Cyanide at 25knts for 3 hours last year - but we managed it, clearly you'd be silly to do the trip from plymouth. Go for it.

I'd be interested. Never been down that way. Where would you launch from? For my 5.8m boat I think I'd prefer the Lands Ends or Newlyn slip. Can you get a B&B in Cornwall at immediate notice in summer? I'm thinking that if you got down there and the weather turned its a long way to go home I'd want to stay and try the next day.

I'd love to go!

But have quite a few commitments this year, so will only be able to say yes very near the time.

Will probably have to do it in 2 hits from Guernsey to Falmouth and then Falmouth St Marys.....if I can persuade the Misses it'll be fun!

I haven't forgot about this cruise, I just need to see when is a good time to get away from work for a few days. I'm sort of stuck between a rock and an ard place, want time off when weather is good, but work will need me because of that reason! Arrghhh
I have possible interest from a couple more Rib owners in leaving from Falmouth.
It would be a first for me to the Scillies in a RIB (been on yachts), but Playm8 is the ex Martann (NODDYs) so she has many a cruise mile under her chines!

As long as the weather is fine and the sea state is slight then I'll be up for it, but I'm not doing another 6hr crossing with 12-14ft waves again! My nerves and back can't take it!!!
