I haven't owned any skis for ages, and although I used to teach and work as a guide I think owning skis is a waste of money.

They charge you to put them on the plane

They charge you to get them waxed

Ski technology has advanced hugely in the last 5 - 10 years

It's easy to trash a pair with unpredictable snowfalls we are getting now

They are bloody expensive!

I hire skis either top end or demo pairs, and even if I don't come out ahead financially it saves me the trouble of carrying them and maintaining them, and the hire equipment in the resorts I go to is the latest stuff - and I can change after a couple of days if I don't like them!

cervinia italy in feb, tried wax it delams the glue and wood, tried resin makes the leather straps stiff, now i just paint them with high gloss
