12th Annual Pasty Hunt (note change in title)!! August 24
The 12th Annual Pasty (Run) Hunt will take place in and around Plymouth over the weekend - 3rd - 4th August with the 5th booked off work to extend the play time for those that can.
Due to other events the Pasty Hunt is happening later in the year then usual for 2024 , but hopefully this will bring some lovely weather and plenty of light for the evening cruise element.
Saturday 3rd August, Pasty Hunt, not just a run!! With an early evening meal at Nos Ferris.
This will see a departure time of 11.30 and instead of a straight run to the pasty location - you'll need to follow the clues.
This will not be a timed event but one designed to open up some of the areas not usually visited on a boat run. It'll guide you through some of the history of the port and surrounding locations and with the most accurate in their answers, wining the first prize as well as enjoying a great pasty at the breakpoint - fun and enjoyment in good company is guaranteed.
Following a pasty and possibly an ice cream, we'll head over to the River Yealm where we'll be on a rising tide to enjoy a pint and an early evening nibble at The Swan Inn before heading back to night time berths.
This will be approx 25nm outbound and 20nm return.
Sunday 4th August, crab sandwiches at Dartmouth (or Brownies at Salcombe) and an evening cruise to Calstock.
This is planned as a longer trip, enjoying some of the best coastline South Devon has to offer. Two lengths of trip to choose from of approx 16nm to Salcombe and if the weather allows a longer trip of 30nm to Dartmouth.
This will be a 10.30 departure.
Tides then should allow for an evening cruise up to Calstock to have tea at the Tamar Inn.
First we'll take a run over to the river Plym, just touching the mouth before taking in the sights of Plymouth Hoe and Smeatens Tower.
From there we'll follow the Tamar past Forder Bridge. Before heading past Babis Rd bridge, Royal Albert railway Bridge (one of Brunel's finest) and the Tamar road bridge followed by the Tamerton and Tavy bridges before pushing on up river we head towards Cotehele House and gardens, there are areas of open speed and restricted speed mooring areas.
The wildlife on this section is usually superb and cameras are well recommended.
Passing Cotehele we'll be at the final stop on this trip, Calstock. The pub will be open for snacks, a pint, coffee or large gin before we return to the open sea at the height of the tide.
Monday 5th -TBC this will be decided on the day based on the weather and success of the previous two days.

Hello - there's a FB event on a couple of the RIB pages- I best not link as it's a different forum but a search on the Pasty Run should find it.
Updates will be added to here too but not the combined chat.

Hi Andy,
I'll aim to join from Brixham, for at least 1 day - either join the hunt on Sat, with departing home, after Noss Mayo, or may will run down to meet on the way into Salcombe / Dartmouth on the Sun.
Potentially stay over Sat night in Plymouth if I get a pass

Looks like I won't make this one.....that weekend is the transfer date of a large operation I'm heavily involved in - will need to be on site for the first few days up north

Oh no, you'll be missed
The good news is it's a hunt this year, rather then just a run, so I'm sure we can catch up anther date and let you lose with the magnifying glass
Good luck with the release.

It's a pain, the transfer date was put back a month, however I need to be there for the transfer and first few days of operation.
I'm sure we'll catch up over the season - let me know when you're going to be out & about in S Devon.
