Torches

Hi Everyone

I want to buy a rechargeable hand torch with a really powerful, narrow beam and a rechargeable head torch that has separate switches for red and white lights so that you don't have to scroll through white (loosing night vision) to get to red.

Any advice on what to get would be very welcome, thank you.

I can't say what is good.

But I can say stay away from Maglite. I've now had multiple ones, all of which end up failing/corroding far too quickly. IMVHO they trade on the name, rather than quality, these days.

Take a look at https://tinyurl.com/jk37saz5 O Light the Perun 2 is a great head torch but only single colour the Warrior X Pro is very tight a spotty unit in a small package and worth a look or the Javolt is utterly mega!
The Freyer is multi colour with x2 switches but not a head torch.
Not quite what you asked for but well worth a look.

Aye! I would go for the Mega Beam ultra, with the Di-lithium matrix laser aiming system. It also makes a mean espresso.[emoji106]

I can recommend the following hand torch which I have been using for the last five years. The correct one is labelled "A - All in Box". The second link is for 18650 spare rechargeable batteries if required from a very reliable seller.

And make sure to be wearing anti-flash gear at all times!

To the original OP, here's some other options covering both head and hand torches.

https://exposurelights.com/

I've had 2 exposure lights. My first one I bought in 2010 and used it for cycling to work for basically a decade. Now replaced with the same, but newer version.

Excellent quality lights, survived cold, wet, very wet, very very wet, being dropped, kicked, probably even drop kicked a few times.

UK made & absolutely top quality. Not cheap, but UK made and top quality are both things I like.

For example, the Action 1-9 Plus has a 9 degree wide, 315 metre beam, USB rechargeable, waterproof to 100 metres.

Have to admit on my original response I’d forgotten my exposures having not ridden since March 2020.

The 2010 one still works, but battery life and the switch seal were both showing age. Could have had it serviced, but the new version had some nice upgrades

Hi Folks

Again, thanks for your help.

In the end, I went for an Olight Javelot Pro. Seems really good!

They also sent me a free i5UV EOS - a small UV torch. Apart from checking for prints and blood spatter, I'm not sure what you do with it - any ideas?

If you buy a UV marker pen you can use it to security mark items with your postcode and use the torch to check you've marked it correctly.
