About trailer, i will have a problem have it registerd in Sweden if it has not been registerd before.

I just recieved a message from a transportcompany, they say they dont do this transport during covid restrictions.

And now i sent the question to LKW.

I belive there is a lot of solutions, i just need to find one i can afford.
Just a very quick "trying to be helpful " athough i hav,nt researched !!
if thats an xs rib you are buying ?? then that is built in the town of Hull , is there no scandinavian ferry routes to hull from scandinavia ??

Just ferry and fuel would cost me 1200 GBP, so a transport for the same money by lets say LKW would spare me some days of travelling.

You can’t delete posts, you can ask the admins to do so, or you can “edit” the post and delete all the text & just write “duplicate post”. You only have around 15minutes to edit a post after posting & then it’s locked.

If you don’t hear back from LKW message me and I can help. We ship regularly with them so will have a little more clout.

I sold my last boat to a German guy, he took it back to Germany on the EU type approved SBS trailer. Got it back to Germany & TUV wouldn’t issue registration papers for it because it didn’t have the original builders paperwork & documents (I never had any as they aren’t required in the UK) he had to sell the trailer to a boat yard as a yard trailer iirc. My current Dutch built trailer came with more documents that the van that tows it[emoji849]. The situation can’t have improved after “The Thing”
I was just thinking it might be easier to buy a trailer than build a ‘crate’.

XS has ”dollys” for sale that will do the job.

Kind of expensive but surely good made. (695GBP)

Heard nothing more on transports yet, keep you updated.

Have you actually discussed the problem with XS? They might turn around & say “yeah! We do this all the time, we’ll knock up a wooden cradle that can be forklifted & we shrink wrap the whole lot” you never know your luck.

Having shipped a vehicle from the U.K. to Finland in a 20ft container I can say that it was a very simple process. I paid about 1000 pounds but that was back in 2010. As mentioned, it would be worth talking to the manufacturer as most will have plenty of experience shipping boats abroad. If I remember correctly, there is/ was a ferry service (cargo) between Immingham and Gothenburg which, if still operating, may be the best solution.

Karl - I would also get a quote from DSV
https://www.fi.dsv.com/road-transpor...?sc_lang=en-GB

I just checked and our last couple of loads went with them. LKW didn’t seem interested in the Nordic stuff

Have you asked about XS fitting the boat out in hull & collection from there? They do have the ability to do that at hull & surely it would make logistics easier?

He says he's tried to talk with XS.

It would seem, for what ever reason, that they are unable to help.

Can it not be launched in Dover, driven to Calais, recovered to your own trailer and driven home?

Obviously I'm making a massive over simplification, and this would need planning and some sea trials first, but as a basic idea would this not be a cost effective way?

Over to you Karl Oskar, I have no idea of your experience or skill on the water, so I'm not recommending you do it, just saying that's what I would be considering if it were me.

Notwithstanding the logistical implications, this would still involve someone crossing “Covid borders” one way or another. Even internally within the EU, Sweden to France would/could be more problematic than Sweden/UK. Far more borders to cross. It would make for an interesting challenge in different times though.

I was very happy reading this.

This was my origin plan, that was cancelled due to service hours on engines (20h) would be due at about Cuxhaven. Yes i planned to drive it almost to my door in Sweden.

And also in Sweden its hard to find someone to come along, that thinks this is a good idea.

If i would do it like your idea, i would go to Cadzand-Bad by several reasons.

But still the problem might be for me in person to go England and pick it up.

And some problems might occur traveling from my car to Dover due to covid.

Would launching far up the Themes be a good idea?

And now i got a NO from LKW.

Question is out for DSV...

In Sweden we have a date of 18 april for a change in travelrestrictions in some way.

Hopefully in the right direction for my plans.

Rest of EU has some similar plans i think.

If not, mayby i could find someone who wants to drive my boat from the Themes to The Nederlands..

On the XS website they have a page from a guy in Norway who says he is able to guide and advise on importing to there. May have some ideas to help you.
