Thanks guys, that was a great day

Your help and guidance is appreciated, being able to follow in your wake and not have to look at the plotter or worry about where we were going made me much less nervous and allowed me to just enjoy the day.

Plus your tips about trim etc were welcome.

Calm sea, chasing each other to the IOW, beer, grub and then more messing about on the way back - I can see myself doing that every weekend.

Watching you two jumping wakes on that SR4 had us grinning all the way back to the marina.

No problems or issues with the boat on its shake down. But we did have a moment on the way back.

As we were pootling along back in the harbour I thought Id pull the kill switch to see if it worked and just how fast the boat would stop. So, yank on the cord - boat comes to a stop, all fine. Test over, small bit of experience gained. Then we turn the key to start the engines - nothing. Dead. Try the other, dead as well.............there was a slight look of panic on my wifes face and I was planning on how to make my first Pan Pan radio call. Finally, moments before I picked up the radio my wife pointed out the boat was still in gear ! Doh !........... Out of gear, twist the key and we are off again - laughing like a pair of idiots.

Loaded it up on the trailer OK, not as difficult as I was expecting. So Im pretty happy all round with our first outing and meeting up with you guys just added to the day.

AJ, I did wonder if that was you flashing me on the A34, either that or a problem with the trailer. But no one else flashed so I carried on.

Right, Im hooked - whens the next trip.

Sounds like you had an awesome day out ribbing Trimix.

We have all played the "*#*# it won't start, Doh it's in gear" game at least once. The other classic we all fall for at least once is turning the engine over and over wondering why it will not fire, then realising you have accidentally pulled the kill cord out.

Chris

Im gutted, my boat is till out of action, likely to be so until mid January as the place im having the A Frame replaced has so many services to do they can fit it in until January.

Trimix, were you launching at Cobbs Quay at all ? I saw a very nice Hysucat on a trailer at cobbs on Saturday.

The SR has four seats - your welcome to use that anytime

Had a go in the back seats in the harbour - huge giggle but left me feeling a little 'sea sick' - or was that AJ throwing it about while I laughed like a loony ?

Cheers Pete, both of us fancy a go on your boat sometime - it looked like you were having a laugh bouncing over everyones wake

Plus I wouldnt need to trailer it, Id just stick it in the back of my van.

Hi Trimix, I must have seen you drive past my house on the Saturday morning, I was just uncovering my Ribeye on my drive near Cobbs and saw a Hysucat go by pulled by a big white van about 8:30am

I launched at Cobbs on Saturday about 9:00 and did the same trip over to Yarmouth. Fantastic trip in the sun, lunch in the café on the pier and then back to Cobbs. All done without a plotter and every course/fix was spot on when checked on a GPS on the radio. Very pleased with myself.

The boat looked great by the way, hopefully see you out there.

Andy

Distance to a marina was one of the main contributing factors to buying that house, got to get my priorities right

Brilliant. I reckon you could pull the trailer there and not bother with a tow vehicle

Or just wait for a very high tide.
