Well done for making the trip. I was on the Condor fast ferry from Poole to Guernsey at the same time and it looked quite interesting in places.

Yep, fairly shaken on the way to Alderney, via Yarmouth. We arrived from Poole a little early at the muster point. Due to the very large waves at the Fairway Bouy we headed into Yarmouth to see who was going and who wasn't. Headed back out with Never Enough and Black Adder with Evening Star sweeping up behind us all. mrs CGF10 got a little anxious as we headed back to the Fairway mark as it had been pretty wild on our way in and the though of going back through that lot was not exciting. Somehow I persuaded her to give me three more miles to see if the waves spaced out a bit and they did, at least a little. It still took around five more hours of rough weather to get to Alderney. Evening Star turned back, then changed their minds and continued, Never Enough had a minor breakdown but fixed it and also continued. We tied up at 6.30pm feeling pretty washed out and tired. Quick shower and in to Harbour Lights for a drink then off to The Georgian for supper where they looked after all 16 of us very well. I wish I'd had the energy to continue the party but my kids were tired so we turned in. I think the campsite attendees made a better job of staying up. This morning we took a walk over to the very nice campsite, admired the new toilets and showers then took a climb around the nearby WW2 pill boxes that litter Alderney. We departed at 1.30pm and a little over two hours later after a nice smooth run back we pulled in to Poole Harbour. What a difference a day makes.

And a few more, campsite we stayed at was excellent and a great meal in the Georgian last night. Thanks to those who put the effort into organising and a big thanks to Andre for the seat on the cracking big Parker.

Super cruise and many thanks to Tim for organising it.
Many thanks also to Whisper and Jumpinjack for coming along

We only experienced one issue and it was a loose battery cable. Once sorted we were on our way. I will post some photos after Seawork

The camping was great mind you not the best night for me as I do not do camping but the morning views especially the white sandy beach compensated for that. Must say super facilities for a camp site. We were told it was rated 4 stars

Thanks to all who made it the sea was a it interesting at the start, someone must have upset the wind gods as it was not forecast .
The girls onboard were a little anxious for the first few miles and wanted to turn back which we did , then after a little bit of gentle persuasion they changed there minds.
So cruising along and making 16 knots over the ground we caught up with the others , great fun riding up and down the waves got caught by a couple of big ones and it broke the windscreen wiper, so a little tricky to steer around the waves after that ,.

After a slow plod Alderney came into view picked up the mooring and a quick march up cardiac hill to our B and B a quick shower and then meet the group in the Georgian nice place and good food.
Next day the sun came out the birds sang and the seas had calmed down ,
Looking at the tides we decided to depart at 1530 so we would have best wind and tide for the trip home , the others decided to leave at 1330 so we waved them off and wished them a safe journey .
We had a very relaxed lunch in the Braye Beach Hotel I had an amazing crab salad .
So 1530 came and off we set alone across the channel and what a difference a day makes nice calm seas and blue skies.
No incidents along the way just some boat dodging as we crossed the channel alone .
As we came into the Needles channel we had a call from Spotty Pup who escorted us back into East Cowes Marina and we tied up at 1930 so a gentle four hour trip .
Thanks to my crew
Jane ,Donna , Mark B , Kevin and Mark W for a great journey there and fabulous weekend .
Planning our next cruise now .
Cheers
Tim

Just had a look at our RYA safe trap log and it is pretty much the same and you can see where we changed course to avoid shipping and our best speed.
Quite impressed with the app a must for all those cruising offshore .
Even sent me a text to say I had overrun by 30 minutes and my emergency contact had been notified .

Looks like a great trip - a mix of conditions adds spice to the telling. I was a little surprised to see Island Star in the video - she's a boat I know from her previous life, kinda sad story there so good to see her getting a second chance.
