Handles

My Quicksilver SIB bag has handles at either end, not that it's really a bag as it opens out flat and then wraps round the SIB with straps. Makes it easy to carry though.

I don't know about the Old BSAC courses, but I believe the current BSAC boat handler courses are awarded on attendance rather than assessment, so cannot be converted to RYA which is an assessed...

I'd mask off the area around the bit with fibres showing and then try a thin layer of aquasure sealant on the scraped area. It dries to a tough rubbery/plasticy material and seems very adherent.
