Hello from Alaska

Been lurking but just joined...lots of good info. here.

I have a Zodiac Hurricane RIB powered by a 115hp 2-stroke Mercury. Last season was my first with this boat. I bought the boat from someone who bought it at a state auction and it was in bad shape. 3 weeks later had a worthy vessel for my kind of fishing here in AK. We normally run from 40-150 miles a day in seas from flat calm to 10`. It is propped to redline @ 40mph...too much chine walk beyond that.

Mods so far...
Aluminum center console
Aluminum 60 gallon fuel cell
Side frames for downriggers, pot puller, rod holders
Front storage
New GPS/plotter/finder
And of course fresh wiring and batteries.

Looking forward to learning more here.

It`s a bit cold here and too much snow for the all-shined-up pics so here`s a couple during the build.

Looks a nice boat!!

You'll have some fun in that, especially with the scenery Alaska way.

Nice looking Rib, your pictures have made me very jealous, in my twenties I worked for various Cruise Liners for about 8 years, while I travelled extensively all over the world I did spend a lot of time in Alaska during the cruising season most years and have very fond memories, best place ive been for outstanding natural beauty, visited Skagway, Juneau, Ketchiken, Seward, Sitka etc etc. Great times, would recomend Alaska as a destination not to be missed to anyone.

Wow!! some awesome fish there AK2AZ The ling and Halibut are massive...
The orange one I presume is a rockfish. I would like to see some pics of you landing those size of fish on your new rib

As for camping!! with the potential for bears to call at the camp

Alaska;

Nice fish.

Is that a Yelloweye rockfish?

If so, nice to see them doing well; they're illegal take here in CA.
