Yep if that outboard runs as well as its claimed history indicates it worth the £1000 on its own.

All three tube valves have leaking inner spring seals (not sure if what they're called) but stop leaking when the outer valve is closed.. taking off the outer cap you can bear a slow hiss

Brackets for launching wheels are present but have been screwed to the transom and are rusting/rusted. Would need to be drilled out and SS bolts used

Told him I'd have a think - buying some time until folk that know more about these floors than me happen past this thread [emoji2]
Would the spray in glue cause problems? I'd guess it would coat all surfaces inside the floor..
Thanks for that. Was thinking of taking a look at this but you've just saved me a 400 mile round trip. Will have to keep looking for a nice Aerotec

Only possible down side is that engine looks very much like a long shaft. Shoot me down if I'm wrong.

Certainly looks like a long shaft to me, but the guys video of it on YouTube looks like a short shaft though.

I've just bought this so thanks for pointing it out. It's primarily as a 'tender' and auxiliary engine for my Pac 22 but I can fully envisage using it this summer in its own right as I've reduced my Pac to its constituent parts in my garage.

I've never owned a SIB or an outboard before so it's going to be an education.

Cheers

Guy

And just checked the price £1000! Well done indeed - that's an easy £1800 - £2000 value there if split in my experience. Just goes to show why time and time again over the years and as per the sticky Fenlander, myself and many others advise first time SIBbers to look out for outfits exactly like that. Buy it, try it and if not for you split and sell on for a profit. After a few years you effectively make money and end up with an outfit for free. Do it that way or the wrong way - ie don't do any research, rush into picking up the wrong boat, buy the wrong engine, sell at a loss, repeat, etc.

Always, always just look for a well matched big name outfit with extras included in the 3.2 to 3.8m range (airfloor will suit most far more than solid floor) with a 9.8 to 15hp 2 stroke and at the £1000 to £1800 price range. As an all round SIB set up this will be perfect for the vast majority of users.

That Tohatsu 9.8 was a shortshaft. It was being in the edge of field in the photo stretched out by the lens edge distortion that made it look longshaft. The longshafts have three deflector plates above the cav plate several inches apart... the one Max linked had just the two plates close together. If it had been nearer I'd have bought it just for the OB at that money... to put away for when age stops us lifting a 20hp.

Here's a longshaft...
