A long shot but.........

I thought I'd give the forum a go. I'm a terrible bloke for hobbies - you name it and I've done it ! Anyway, I've been rowing in the spare room for about 3 months in an attempt to lose some weight. In fact I've become quite keen on this rowing lark and fancy buying some sort of skiff capable of handling the sea. I've attached a picture of the type of thing I'm after and if anyone happens to know of something similar lying around "For Sale" please let me know. Thanks. Graeme

A long shot but.........

Try Ahoy-Boats in CHESTER Tel: 0870 7702728

They are the UK dealer in Virusboats url: www.virusboats.co.uk

Virus boats are a range of safe stable skulling training craft.

I hope we don't all "catch" a crab if you get a virus!!

Thanks John,

I'm aware of these skiffs, in fact it's one of these I'd ideally like however, new they're slightly out of my pocket for what I want to do with it. Hence my call to arms on the forum, you never know, someone may just have one or something similat lying around at the right price. Thanks again.

A long shot but.........

I have had a look in the latest edition of Regatta (I'm a onetime oarsman) where there are often training skulls/tubs for sale, however there are none this month.
I will keep an eye out for you.

John

More like a terrible bloke for wasting everyone's time. Vintage agricultural tractors one week, argocats the next and now rowing skiffs. Now you know as well as I do, Graeme, that this is just one more in a long line of your passing fads, and that next week you'll be after a second hand hot air balloon or a refurbished steam locomotive. Do yourself a favour, save your cash and put it towards reupholstering that bloody Medline, or indeed a set of mud terrain tyres for the new Audi.

Now now Phil - I've taken offence at that remark. Do you recall some P.Ms we exchanged some months ago in which you and I exchanged a list of hobbies !

Just for the record I'll reel off what's in my garage at the moment - so to speak.

TYZ 250 Trials Bike
Piaggio X9 125 Scooter
Bianchi Light weight road bike
Cannondale SV500 full bounce Mountain Bike
Guns - numerous.
Rowing Machine
Turbo Trainer
Hanglider - yes a hanglider !
RIB of course x 2 by the way.
Mirror Sailing Dinghy
4-5 other dinghys in between and since the Mirror. (Optomist / GP14)
Remote Control Plane - sold
Remote control car - sold
Remote control Boat - sold
The list goes on but I won't bore everyone anymore than I have already. (24ft Hunter Horizon Saling Yacht - Dutton Phaton - 21ft Shuffle Class Sloop) etc etc Not to mention - Ah bolloks I won't bother !

With ref to your tractor comment, I'm still on the case to make a purchase and WILL in time. As for the Argo 6x6 interest, it was a thought but one I could not afford.

So, I'm sure there are many retailers / sellers out there who would disagree with you that I'm a tyre kicker.

Actually....

Graham, this fell under the "oh bolloks (without a c)" catagory. I used to belong to Guinea Gap Canoeing Club In Liscard. At the time I had a Piranha K2 Slalom which I sold about 6 months ago in order to put some cash in my pocket for a Kettler Coach which has stimulated the original post re the skiff.
