Next Sunday is looking OK, but I will need to launch at Dawn to avoid the crush !

I can foresee a few boats that were laid up in Sept time having maybe a few fuel issues ! ........ 3 or 4 months is ok for petrol, but after that is becomes a bit of a lottery .......

So what is the ruling / interpretation for boating?

we seem to have gone from a very clear (but draconian) 3 point plan to something vet woolly, I don' understand the new message / rules

A 50 page document is going to be released tomorrow outlining in more detail what is and what isn't allowed. But various reputable news organisations are stating that "water-sports" will be allowed.

Did not realise all this - will get the pump out!

Must be something to do with the fact the never seen before nearly 8 weeks solid of sunshine in March/April/May gave way to grey skies, falling temps and high winds last night.

Imagine next weekend in the lake district now! Will be chaos.

I assume only launching solo or with people you live with applies. Seeing theres no way I can keep 2m distance if I take my mates fishing of the SIB, looks like the Mrs will be dragged out!

Let's see if the marinas open down here - at the moment the entrance to my marina is barricaded, so even though my RIB is in it's berth, I couldn't actually get it out into the harbour and beyond anyway!

I predict total chaos on the south coast this weekend, with boats which weren't really ready for the sea getting chucked in anyway, crowding on pontoons and slipways and no doubt the highest rate of mayday calls for a long time when people's batteries, fuel, etc play up... Probably all exacerbated by a police force who haven't been informed of the actual rules, or who are interpreting them through their own perception of the situation...

I'm quite keen to get afloat too but the RYA say, "all types of boating", what including flotillas of racing dinghies (changing facilities, frequent rescue boat use, very close sailing)? narrowboats all using the same lock gates and bridge control panels? I'm sure many people could be safely released but this seems to be anything but gradual and I'm actually disappointed the RYA are blindly encouraging it. The RYA should have proposed a much more structured return - they've had 7 weeks to think about it.

The three First Ministers must be delighted that England is leading the way in this as if it turns out to be low impact they can follow suit in a few weeks time. If it leads to a second wave they can smugly say, "I told you so".
