Rib insurance in Ireland

Irish ribbers please help.
I just got this from my RIB insurer - Allianz:
"In 2022 Allianz plc made the decision to withdraw from the Pleasurecraft market. We are required by the
Consumer Protection Code to give customers 2 months notice of our decision to withdraw from the market.
It has come to our attention that there was an error on our part and you were not given the
required 2 month notice period. As a result of this error we will automatically extend your renewal
date by 60 days to give you the additional time to arrange cover elsewhere. Please note that cover
will cease from the extended date of 07/06/2023.
We have identified the following brokers who may be able to assist you in obtaining cover from an
alternative provider. Please note that this list is not exhaustive and we do not recommend any particular
broker over another.
Aquabroker McCarthy Insurance Group O'Leary Insurance Group
www.aquabroker.ie www.mig.ie www.olearyinsurances.ie
Alternatively, Brokers Ireland, www.brokersireland.ie the representative body for insurance brokers, may
be able to provide advice on additional brokers available to accommodate you.
We sincerely regret this error and assure you we have put steps in place to ensure this does not occur
again".

Well lads and lasses where do I go for insurance - one of the above?5 Which do ye recommend ? or is there some other company?

Yachtsman Euromarine or Craftinsure are the usual go to’s.

It has been increasingly difficult to get marine insurance here over the past few years - we're a litigious nation to say the least.

If you want insurance to "be insured" - Craftinsure.ie should be as good as any.

If you have specific needs or concerns, then I can recommend Aquabroker in Galway. Conor Baines is an active boater and a fairly sensible head, just don't expect any great deals...

Thanks lads:
I managed to get quotes from Yachtsman Euromarine & Craftinsure - the latter being considerably cheaper

Interestingly all the parties to the case seemed to be English but the case was in Ireland (one assumes because that’s where the injury was incurred rather than for a better or quicker payout).

Man jumps out of speedboat 10 times to be rescued as part of a display, sustains injury & sues the organisers. Wins 800,000 Euros.

"In his action for damages it was claimed there was a failure to take necessary measures to ensure the activities was safe and free from risk of injury.
It was further claimed that Mr Pullen was allegedly directed to take part in the event when they knew or ought to have known that he did not have any or any adequate training such that he may carry out the events safely and without risk of an injury."

After all, what could possibly go wrong?

Renewal 🫣

Hi folks.

It’s around that time for me again - insurance policy joys. Likewise, I’m in Ireland. The rib is kept on a trailer at home on cctv etc. My renew policy is at €540. I’m with Aquabroker. How does this seem to others here and with so many providers leaving the market is their and real savings out there?

The rib and engine are both 2022 so relatively new.

Thanks a mill,
Denis.

Fair play! Called them today and got a similar price at €360.
