New auxillary Engine too small?

I sadly parted with my reliable 8hp Mercury 2 stroke aux engine when I sold the Ribcraft and I now feel it would be prudent to buy a replacement aux engine for the 7.4m Delta I'm re-building.

I've been looking at used engines rather than new but I'm favouring a 4 stroke as it removes the hassle of a 2 stroke fuel requirement on the Delta which will be running a 4 stroke DF250 as a main engine.

I note there is a large jump between 4 stroke 6hp and 8hp units in size and weight. I'm not looking for miracles, just something to move the rib if it packs up. I know the 'golden rule' of 1hp per metre length of boat reqiremnt for an aux engine but am very tempted to buy a 6hp longshaft 4 stroke rather than the much heavier, bulkier 8hp version.

Any opinions / experiences on the above would be useful to hear. Thanks

look for a high thrust one used on sail boats better at displacement speed
