Bottle rack seat conversion.

I have just a single jockey seat...behind it is a bottle rack... im thinking of fitting a seat to the top centre bar which can be removed so the rack becomes....well a rack again. Has anyone done this ?... hopeing someone has as it is a common layout. If so how did you do it and what seat did you use..
???

I have converted a bottle rack, but it is now just a seat, to make it a rack again would mean hacking off the welded on bars.

I had two square bits of stainless channel welded onto the sides at the same height as the centre channel. Cut a bit of ply and epoxied, bolts set uin place, foam and vinly cover added, then bolted into place.

I guess that instead of welding bits on down the side, you could fit an elongated U bracket (ie a flat bit of stainless bent to 90 degrees at each end at each end of the ply base and bolt this through the bottle rack at each end. Then the seat base would be removable easily enough.

seat /bottle rack

hi
i have converted a bottle rack to a 1 seat person,
the seat could be removed to use the rack if required and vi sa versa.
and on another rib i put the bottle rack side ways instead of in line behind the seat this works also if you can not convert the rack to a seat.

post some pictures, to get a better idea of what you want,
thanks
stephen

No need to convert it. Get in touch with Ian Parkes on this forum - Mrs Parkes is quite comfortable perched on the bottle rack for a run out to the Scillies

I have two bottle racks , inline with a total length of about 6 ft. I am considering bolting lenght of 3/4 inch ply to the top rail with a combo of U bolts and through bolts. Then purchasing some folding back seats @ $40 each from Cabelas to attach to the ply. With a little overhang at the back and front I should be able to fit 4 seats.
