3m ish RIBS with bow locker

Hello, I'm new to this forum as its looks like a great place for info. I'm looking to get a 3-3.5 m rib and think a bow locker that could double up as a seat for the little one could be useful. I see that the Avon rover has them. Does anybody know of any others makes that do this or know of one for sale. I have a Honda 10hp 4 stroke to put on it. Thanks Jim.

3+m with bow locker

Hi,
My Highfield 360 classic is an open rib with a bow locker. This bow lock is it water tight though. the 340 and 380 also have bow lockers.
One of the nice thing about this boat is the comparative depth inside the boat compared to an inflatable. Due to the aluminium hull the boat is light at around 68 kg for the boat without kit and engine.
Regards,
David

Even on such a small boat with just 10HP the bow locker may not be the best place to put a child if you are going at more than displacement speed.

3+ Bow locker

I agree with Poly. I have two sons (12 & 14) and while they may sit up front on the bow locker while we are going slow like when fishing or at or near displacement speeds when it is flat. They do not sit there at anything much above this as there is the risk of them being throw out or hurt when it launches off a wave and slaps down. Generally they move away from sitting on or at the front bow locker as it is not the most comfortable place to sit.

For a small kid I would start at the back on the rear bench seat next to me and then let them sit on the tubes further forward once everyone is comfort able with the ride of the boat.

Thanks for the advice. I did think that it may not be the best place to sit but though that being tight on space it would be other seat. I'll scrap that idea. I have got my eye on Aquapro 310, its an ali hull. Any body know much about them??

Thanks Jim.

The Avon R340 RIB is the weapon of choice of small RIBs. Don't bother looking at other brands.

If you're stuck with a 10' max LOA, then the Avon R310 RIB is the one to go for.

I have just bought an Avon 3.10 rover in hypalon. Upgraded from a Brig 275 falcon. I run a 15hp two stroke and have to say it was a great choice of boat. If I had the room I would have gone for the 340.
