Getting things right

Greetings folks, i trust everyone is well given the current climate!

Im new to the nautical stuff and "would like to get it right from the outset..." so be gentle...

Ive just bought a 2nd hand zodiac projet 4.2m.... hope to collect in july.

Ive done my RYA etc but wanted to ask about where i can use the boat without breaking any laws/rules etc?

How does one ...Just rock up at a lake/river/marina/harbour/beach and launch?

Also rollers v bunkers on a trailer? Im leaning towards bunkers but open to any advice.

Welcome

Bunks or rollers... Personal preference on a 4.2m boat.Might even be a plus for bunks, the boat stays still when you want it to. Go any bigger and rollers every time, because it's awkward to get the boat to move without floating it off on bunks.

Boatlaunch.co.uk will be your friend for a while til you learn places. What area are you looking at using the boat?

Awesome name tag! 🤣

I’d imagine mostly cruising rivers, occasional lakes +/- pulling the kids on an inflatable pizza slice!

Equally coastal waters at some point

Definitely check out Boatlaunch then, it has fees listed and any restrictions listed too.

My favourites on the Solent are Warsash (free, but no tap to flush), Portsmouth Old harbour (No tap again, not sure on charges as not been there for a while but easy launch), Calshot (Taps etc,pay security guard on the way in but no pontoon to tie up to)
All of those are viable at any state of tide, though bizarrely Warsash can be easier at low tide.

Not anymore, charges started this year at £4 and has already gone up to £5.

The slip next to Moodys is the same.

Where do you pay, or is it the harbour master collecting?

You were told to report to the HM Office before launching. But now because of Covid 19, they have put a sign up with a number to ring and make a payment over the phone.
