Slipway

Hi, does anyone have any information on what looks like a public slipway just outside Sunderland marina ?

Its administered by the marina we used to use it years ago ask the marina about it. Not sure if the one is still useable up at south hylton but its very tidal and leaving your car was a lottery

I’ve found out it’s owned by the Marina.

I wasnt sure if they owned it or the council but we used to have to go into the marina office to get a key iirc. Cant remember how it worked now & the conditions of use might have changed as its been a few years since we used it

Many thanks. Yes , it’s controlled by the marina. And is £130 a year to use.

130 a year is ok if you can make use of it often enough to be worthwhile. Problem is if you like to go to different launch sites then its a lot to pay out but not much else in terms of launching facilitiesin that area . We used to use the one up river at claxheugh via South Hylton if we were going for an afternoon skiing (and leaving spectators onshore) it was ok above half tide but a dodgey place to leave your car & trailer if you wanted to head out to sea.
