I think this Top Gear report on safety is pretty good -

That'll be the ones like Triggers Brush.

Not necessarily. My father has three old Land Rovers (before anybody thought of them being called Defenders) on his farm. The old Series 3 (1980) rarely gets used now but that, the 90 (1987) and the 110 (1986) are all on original engines, gearboxes etc. Bodywork is a little tatty (working farm vehicles - but always garaged so no real corrosion problems) and they have probably all had a clutch in that time, and a few sets of tyres, but that's all.

Fair enough. They can't all be bad.

I especially like the 10 reasons not to drive a 4x4 in town:

1. You're not a farmer
2. Your family fits into a saloon car or people carrier
3. You will breathe cleaner air
4. You will save money
5. You won't have to lie to your grandchildren (about your contribution to climate change)
6. You will be less likely to kill a pedestrian
7. You might see a small child early enough to avoid backing over them
8. You will be less likely to injure people in other cars
9. You will have a better time driving
10. People won't think you are an 'idiot'

Heard it all before. Still two new converts to the 4x4 world tonight as I towed there cars out of snow filled ditch's. Nice £20 earned towards me curry

RIBase
I especially like the 10 reasons to garotte the anti-4x4 brigade:

1. You're blinkered 2CV driving swampdonkeys
2. The 'Modern Parents' from Viz were modelled on you.
3. You have an annoyingly unfounded sense of moral superiority
4. You live in a yurt
5. You're not capable of lying to your grandchildren since that incident with a yak
6. You're far more likely to kill a pedestrian because you can't see where you're going with your head up your own arse
7. You can't see a small child early enough to avoid backing over them in a 2cv either
8. You are less likely to injure people in other cars unless they die laughing
9. You refuse to consider any evidence that interferes with your unfounded moral superiority
10. People already think you are an 'idiot' but you don't realise.
