LOWRANCE HOOK Reveal 5 83/200 HDI

Hi,

I am new to Ribbing and have just bought a LOWRANCE HOOK Reveal 5 83/200 HDI for my Zodiac Pro 420. I will fix this to the top of the console but my question is does anybody know of any sort of protective casing you can buy to protect it from potential splashes / rain etc?

It doesn’t need one, it’s waterproof 🤷*♂️

I had a Hook 4 on my last Rib. It had a protective cover for when not being used, but Pikey Dave is right they are waterproof. The cover was to protect the screen from the Sun.

Yeah got white Lowrance clip on cover to protect the screen (cheapest i got 7" was on ebay) but also bought a clear glass screensaver.

Wouldn't stress about complete cover as PD is correct...hence why there isn't anything available

But I did see open tied up boat with fishfinder with a clear food tub slotted over the top......I guess to keep the seagull sh*t off as much as anything.

Another cheapo option is some of the tablet/phone so called waterproof pouches which would work.

As Pikey says, they are waterproof - assuming that they are being flush mounted. Are you proposing to fit yours on the bracket - I see it's a smaller RIB? If so then yes, you should consider how best to deal with the potential for splashes around the connections. Technically they are rated as splashproof but in reality, they will begin to pass moisture after a while - soon if you remove the unit regularly. My suggestion is to fit a splash guard/screen behind the unit to guard against waves and use a secondary seal over the connections. Pop a soft cover over the entire thing when not in use.

It’s IPX7 regardless of how it’s mounted. Just keep the connector seals lubricated with a smear of silicone grease & it’ll be fine.

i dont cover my hook 7 its fine, you might get a glare from a screen saver if the sun hits it at the wrong angle
