Lowrance backlight issue

I have a little glitch with the Lowrance LCX-27C.

When I first power on the backlight does not always come on even though the unit powers up ok. I find I need to power on and off to get it to come on.

Once the unit has been on for a while the problem seems to go away.

I am not sure whether this is a cold weather issue or not?

I assume thatou know that the power switch is also the backlight switch on Lowrance. Once the unit is powered up, momentary presses on the power button changes the backlight level.

Yes, if you press it you here the beeps as it cycles through the different levels however the screen remains black, you can just see a faint image if you look closely.
