Gauges for Eagle Osprey with Mercury outboard

Good afternoon fellow forum members.

I've bitten the bullet and invested in a used Osprey Eagle RIB. She has is 5.8m long and has a 125hp Mercury outboard. Just having some upgrades completed by local marine workshop - steering upgraded to hydraulic, gear cables replaced, total re-wire.

She doesn’t have a speedo and the rev counter she does have isn’t working.
So I’m interested in buying/installing some new gauges. Is there a standard set of gauges that I should be looking for to maintain the RIBs traditional look?
If so - where is the best place to source.

Currently she has also has a bottle rack ( ex dive school owned her) but thinking of removing the bottle rack and replacing with some additional seating. Welcome ideas/suggestions on configuration ( and where I could buy seats).

Is the engine a 2 stroke of similar vintage to the Rib ? You could try eBay for second hand gauges, I'm sure your marine engineer will point you in the right direction. ASAP supplies have lots of new sets of gauges.

Finding good used/second hand jockey seats can take a while to find and they tend to sell quickly !! Most Rib manufacturers will sell you new jockey seats.

Lee,

Thanks for your helpful reply and signposting.

It's actually a 4 stoke vintage (1992 I believe).

I'll check out the site you referenced.

Regards,

Dave

In 1992 majority of outboards were still 2 stroke I believe. Upload a picture would be the best best, someone would be able to identify which it is immediately no doubt

ASAP as mentioned is a good shout, Jan in Nautequipe is worth a shout too.
For seat pods might be worth giving Mike W a call, he’s the guy that originally built the hull and he’s a gent.
Best of luck with the new boat, any pics? My first rib was an Eagle, loved it, it was also an ex dive club boat that was originally rigged with a DT100 Suzuki, I changed it for a 130 Yam shorty after I got it which woke it up nicely.

Was there a 125hp Mercury/Mariner in 1992?

Quick look at the Crowley Marine website doesn't show a 125hp until 1994 & they're oil injected 2 strokes with the 2-stroke tank inside the engine cowling.

I stand to be corrected!

Perhaps OP could check, but might be best not to run it until you've established what you've got.

Thanks Blufin - really helpful.
Resolved engine query - I had the year wrong - its a 1998 4 stroke 125hp Mariner.

Thanks beerbelly (note accurate I'm sure!).

Looking forward to using her. Collecting her next Tuesday from marine yard on Anglesey where she has had steering upgraded to hydraulic system, gear cables changed and wiring renewed. Booked into local (to me) marine engineer on Wednesday for a service.

I meant to add earlier that in my opinion you are better off with a GPS for speed than a pitot tube type gauge.

Thanks Nasher - helpful.

What gauges would be recommended to have fitted into the console if the chart plotter shows speed. I think it has a rev counter and fuel gauge at the mo.
