Newbie Prop Q

Ok, newbie question, scraped the prop. No big damage, but the edges are a bit scuffed, So should I file it down, or leave it be?

The general recommendation is never to remove material with abrasion as it will alter the balance of the prop. Common advice
is to tap out dings and burrs with a hammer.

And then sand the rough bits off the edges. Once you've levelled the leading edge the amount of metal removal to smooth it will likely be small so have little effect on the balance and it's good not to have a ragged leading edge - it's good not to have any ragged edge but the leading edge is especially important.

If it's really beaten up so you can't recover the leading edge you can carefully mark out each blade and trim (file and/or snip, grind) an equal amount off all the blades and reshape the leading edge. The blade area will be a little less but you'll have a usable prop....might even be an improvement!

And they can tweak the pitch (max 1") up or down if you need.
