Scams - who on earth falls for these

Screenshot of "enquiry" we received today on one of our boats. My question is who in their right mind falls for such drivel ?

I'd be interested in helping this lady, but I'm a bit busy right now helping a guy in Nigeria to get $22,000,000 dollars he found in a dormant account into my bank so we can split the money!

Then I've got to fill in a form so that I can claim compensation for an accident I haven't had!

On top of that, I've just heard that I've got a tax rebate due to me so I don't really need the money.

However, in order to get all this money, I have to e-mail all my bank details and passwords to someone claiming to be Barclays as my account has been suspended due to a fault!

Isn't the internet wonderful????

Anyone who calls me 'Dear' gets my cash within about 3 minutes .....

I think this a low quality one , but they do seem to be getting smarter ....more realistic cheap prices for boats that dont exist for example.

Still got tp go, got HSBC wanting me to tell them my account details for the account I have never had so I can pay in my accident compensation of 'up to £3350' ..for the accident I have never had.

I think the problem is that sensible people do not reply, only halfwits reply.
As such they have minimal input for maximum reward.

If you actually encourage everyone to respond they would soon find out what a waste of time it is trying to find the dummies.

In an ideal world every one would respond and wast as much time as possible , it can be good fun

Respond to the fraudsters and see how long you can retain their interest .

I take the other opinion, if I reply they then start spamming your email big time with all the other tricks, hoping you might just fall for one of them. We never respond. Delete and ignore.

Would be fun to turn the tables though.

Scam baiting is hilarious fun, the things you can get these people to do in the hope that they can get your money is astonishing!

some lady in Australia did turn the tables on them and spent the money they put in her account. of course it was stolen money so she ended up in a lot of trouble.

That's the trouble with the internet, replying to emails confirms you exist to spammers and the next thing you know could end up falling for a phishing attempt. There are some dodgy, clever gits out there, it's a battle of wits really. Clicking a link can go horribly wrong.

If I get a bill or what ever from any account I have, I always log in by writing the address in manually or from a bookmark.

Wonder if there is a site where you can input addresses from fraudulent people so that they get spammed back? I suppose if there were it could/would be misused and the activity it did considered a criminal offence anyway

Received this one a few days ago, I'd like to know who told them I was in a looney bin, still waiting for a reply from the BHC in Nigeria

ATTENTION:

Did you send Mr. Albert Okafor to pick up your ATM CARD on your behalf? He visited
our office yesterday with the story that you are not fine and had been admitted to the
psychiatric hospital. Please kindly re-confirm this news with a doctor's report to enable us
prepare an affidavit on your behalf and release the ATM card to him.

But if this information is false kindly get back to us immediately to so we can apprehend him.

We advise that you also do the needful to make sure the UKFSA dispatches your NFIU/UKFSA
SCAM VICTIMS COMPENSATION on Friday.

You are assured of the safety of your ATM CARD and availability of your funds and PLEASE be
advised that you should stop further contacts with all the fake government officials
online who in collaboration scammed you.

Kind Regards
