Littlehampton Cruise 2005

Phil & I visited the harbour master today and the arrangements are as follows:

£16 per rib per night at the visitor's mooring, electrics and water available on pontoon. Space along the pontoon will be reserved for the RibNet cruise. This mooring will be most suited for those staying at the QuaySide B&B, Nelson Hotel and any other B & B near the sea front. The mooring fee should be collected by a nominated person and paid to the Harbour Master

All RibNet cruise members can use the showers and toilets within the harbour office , code 2005

For those who will be towing to LAmpton there will be no charge for use of the public slip

Car park for cars and trailers available at no charge outside of harbour office

Just in case the tel number of the Harbour Master is 01903 721215

Please note that when entering Littlehampton please keep to Starboard side as there is a lot of shoal on Western side. Damage to prop or leg very possible so you have been warned.

I once again remind everybody that a speed of 6 knots applies on the Arun river and starts from the harbour entry. This applies to everybody and if you don't believe me checkout post 71

Colin the Harbour Master was most cooperative and pleased that such a cruise had been organised

Phil is going to post the Kids menu and those who have not yet selected their choice I urge you to do so ASAP and PM to Phil Chitty

By the way it is still not to late to join the cruise of the year

Hi Andre & Phil,

Thanks for getting everything sorted. We're staying at The Arun View; would it be best for us to moor on the visitor moorings mentioned above? Or shall we sort that out on the day?

P.S. Phil, I've PMed you our menu choices. Thanks.

For those staying at the Arun View best to moor there as well. Lots of space as the Harbour Master said he would find space for the two commercial boats closer to the workshops giving us more mooring space by the Arun View

Simmons0 best for you to take up the offer of the harbour Master and park trailer and car on car park of the harbour office. Mind you it is rather tricky to get to the harbour office cos of the one way system so suggest once you launch at the public slip (by the RNLI) then head for the sea front turn right then turn right again at the Nelson Hotel . You will then see the Harbour office on your left. Best bring your wheel clamps ect. My guess there is space there for 4 cars and 4 trailers

To all those camping at The Ship and Anchor
I have been in touch with the site owner and unfortunately there is no overnight berthing facility there. This will mean we either tie up overnight at Littlehampton with the inconvernience of travelling back and forth to the site or we launch and recover twice at The Ship and Anchor?
I will try and negotiate a favourable rate for two launches etc but the most it will be is £25.00.
regards
Martyn

Martyn

Why not launch and recover for free at the public slip by the RNLI in LAmpton and like I said in my earlier post some could even park by the Harbour Masters office. as for mooring then at the Arun View there should be ample space and then we have the visitor's mooring at £12.00 per rib

What about any of us who are travelling up from the solent etc... and wanting to stay at the S&A - how far is the site from arun view? - or do we need to continue the search for alternative accomodation?

Thanks

Ben

Andre -I have a campervan so can't see the harbourmaster wearing me parking that in his car park? It is no great inconvenience for me to launch and recover twice at S&A as my Rib is under 5 Metre. For those with cars it would be a much cheaper option so I will leave it to the individual to make their own choices.
Benc - I cant tell you the exact distance from S&A to The Arun View but it isnt far and shouldnt be too expensive by taxi? Have even thought of bringing our bikes? If you are tenting it then you might want to consider the public slip launching option?

It is a bit to far to walk from the Arun View back to the Ship & Anchor. Perhaps a good idea would be to leave a car at the Arun View and toss who is not to drink

HW is at 23:45 so perhaps we could ferry you back if not too much to drink

Martyn / Andre

A shame there is no overnight moring at S & A.

I will launch at the public slipway on Saturday morning and moor with the other boats at Littlehampton.

I guess I will take my trailer back to the S & A later in the day.

Martyn thanks for checking out with S & A.

Peter

Peter

we will be there before 8AM cos that is the earliest we can launch and could assist in getting your rib to the S & A . You could then drive your car there as soon as you launch. I will PM you my mobile tel number
