Littlehampton Cruise 7/8 May 2005
OK Guys as some of you have already heard Phil Chitty and I are putting together plans for another LAmpton cruise  . This cruise gives the Solent ribsters and not only, an opportunity to see that ribbing life is also beyond the Selsy Bill :D
Last years cruise was well attended, from memory about 12 ribs . The plan this year is to have a 2 day cruise with an overnight stay in Littlehampton, ie the Arun View ect, over the next couple of days we will find out how many rooms the Arun View have and if necessary just book the lot. As you know Littlehampton is a tidal river and when choosing the right day the tides have to be taken under account The initial proposal is for Saturday 7th May - Sunday 8th May HW at Littlehampton on the saturday is at 11:25. The LAmpton ribs can launch in the morning and meet the flotyla ;) say about 11:00 . The plan would be to venture up the Arun river say as far as Arundel and enjoy there a sandwich lunch or perhaps a pub lunch at the Black Rabbit. In the afternoon back to Littehampton and an evening meal at the Arun View. The Arun View have their own mooring so no problem here. Day 2 Depending on the weather conditions either back to the Solent or a quick bash to the Brighton Marina for lunch This is our proposal and if we have  I will then put this down in the Cruise events for May Names please:: :) |
Andre,
I'm definitely up for this one - especially after not making it last year. Dates are in the diary! Daniel |

Well so far a very good response  . Will confirm in a day or two the dates given as we must first talk to Paul at the Arun View. My guess is that 99.9% the cruise is on for 7/8 May. Upon final confirmation will make the entry in the events
Those who would like to participate pls PM me name of rib, how many persons and if B & B is required |
Count us in last year was great fun and a two day event is even better. Off to put the date on the calendar. It will also be our second wedding anniversary (ahhhh) and Anto's birthday that weekend :D So get us a good room ;)

Littlehampton Cruise 7/8 May
Hi Everybody!
The dates of our cruise are confirmed for 7/8th May and these have now been entered into the event calender . Phil & i have been looking up the local B & Bs so will post information on this subject tomorrow as still need to speak to one place on the phone. As the B & Bs insist on a credit/debit card guarantee for the reservation we believe it will be best for all around that each party make their own bookings. I trust you agree  |
Good idea looking forward to the better weather already.

Accomodation in Littlehampton

B & Bs this is my recommendation Arun View Inn Wharf Road Tel: 01903 72235 there are 2 twin rooms left and the price is with breakfast 47.50/per room for two persons sharing The Arun View have only got 4 rooms so you can guess who got in first. Yes you are correct the organizers  Just opposite the Harbour Masters office is : Quayside Bed & Breakfast 36, Pier Road tel: 01903 721958 ask for Jane and mention the rib cruise the Quayside has 7 rooms all with en suite Price: £35.00/person The Nelson Hotel 61, Pier Road tel: 01903 713358 www.nelsonhotel.com they hv 5 rooms 2 x twin 2 x double 1 x family in total they can cater for 12 persons Double or twin £50.00 with breakfast family room £65.00 with breakfast Just round the corner from the Nelson Hotel Regency Bed & Breakfast South Terrace Seafront tel: 01903 717707 Arun Sands B & B 84, South Terrace Seafront tel: 01903 732489 email: info@arun-sands.co.uk www.arun-sands.co.uk B&B from £25.00/pppn As each B & B want credit card deposit or guarantee it is best if all interested parties made their own reservations. Please do not leave it too late as the above B & Bs are within walking distances from the river and mooring . Also nearer the time some B & B may not want to accept a reservation for 1 night. Once you make a reservation please confirm this to me. I will upon receipt of confirmations make a list of participants and post on the forum MOORING Very important aspect of the cruise and this can be arranged at the Arun View or at the pontoons by the Harbour Masters office. In order to make these arrangements will need to know how many ribs. Hopefully by the end of February or early March these numbers will be known. Since last year's cruise the Arun View have had some proper steps made down to the pontoon. No more climbing up the ladders. :D We have all signs of a good cruise in the making so to those undecided - don't hesitate and make the necessary arrangements  JK we hope you will be participating as well PS: By the RNLI is a very good Youth Hostel and if any of you are members then this would be a good place to stay Tel: 0870 7706114 |

This sounds like a really good weekend and If I can get the time off we will be there.
I am not familiar with the area so can anyone tell us where the best launching site, with overnight parking, would be? Thanks Martyn |

First you can have your rib launched at the Littlehampton marina (West bank)and as it is a weekend the charge for this is £30.00 (you must have a valid insurance policy) . This charge will also cover the parking of the trailer & car. The Marina do the launching using their own tractor. Overnight mooring at the marina is an option but in May there could be a problem with space. We will arrange mooring at the Arun View and at the visitors pontoons which is by the Harbour Master's office and in walking distance from the listed B & Bs The other option (East bank) is to use the public slip and launch on your own . There is a charge about £ 6.00. This slip is next to the RNLI station. Meter parking for car and trailer is just behind the RNLI Hope this is clear to all concerned |
