On Saturday the plan is to depart at 0930 - 1000 for our jaunt to Jura. The plan for many is to complete a circumnavigation but with the options to take up the navigational challenges of Loch Tarbert, explore the coast of Islay or to enjoy the attraction of the fine coffee shops, hotels or whisky distilleries along the way. The circumnavigation is about 100 miles so bring plenty of fuel. Saturday evening, Keren and the rest of the team at The Puffer on Easdale Island are, as always, pulling out the stops for us with a mouth watering set menu at just £12 a head
Menu options -
Main course: Argyll Hill Lamb Rogan Josh served with rice; Homemade Beef Stovies served with bread & butter or Homemade macaroni cheese served with garlic bread.
To follow: Homemade chocolate brownie with cream or Homemade sticky toffee pudding with custard.

Sunday's plan is to have a landing trip to Belnahua the most remote of the recognised slate quarrying islands with its historic architecture and tools with the option to navigate around some of the other local islands. Tobermory, Oban, Crinan also spring to mind..

May the weather Gods be pleasing ... just glad we missed this weekend!!

What are you guys thinking of doing on the Saturday? Round Jura? Or navigate up to the Lake? Have to keep a good eye on the fuel.

What about passage plan? Anyone got a good set of waypoints? We can certainly do them individually but it would be good to keep together.

Still some things to do on the boat - new bilge pump, driving seat, compass ...... (do we ever finish?)

I'll get some of the cheaper Free State fuel over the next few days.

Between Ribochet, Portnahaven and myself, we'll come up with a general passage plan for the cruise up and down. Saturday can be decided in situ to suit conditions/inclinations. The passage plan will be for group co-ordination purposes only and I have to state here that the originators of said plan expect each skipper to take responsibility for the safety of their own craft and crew. Assume that general ERR terms & conditions apply A copy of the plan will be given to each skipper at Cushendall where we'll have a quick meeting before departure.

It looks as though an early afternoon departure is as good as we can manage as a group. Boats departing Redbay are:
Deep Six - 2 PAX
Caít - 3 PAX
Ricochet - 1 PAX
Portnahaven - 1 PAX
Keamore - 2 PAX

Currently Jumping Jack may depart Greencastle with 2 PAX to RV with us at Jura. The Boss will be transiting the Sound on Friday with a fleet of 11 meters, so we have to behave. However, if the sh1t hits the fan - we'll see if CG-66 beats RB11-61 I intend to break the trip in Craighouse, Jura - petrol/diesel is available. Ribliam should be aware that it's all road diesel £££ and get a tank of green before crossing the border. We have dinner booked on Easdale Island at 2000hrs. Past experience suggests we need at least an hour to get moored/pitched, so I'd LIKE to be there for 1830ish The cruise is approx 4hrs@20kts - you guys can do the math.... Jambo and his crew should meet us somewhere, depending on the day. I'll liaise with him regarding this.

IF we circumnavigate Jura (calling into Loch Tarbert) on Saturday we can refuel easily with spare for the trip home.

We'll be looking at the wx on Wednesday evening after the update and will make a provisional decision at that point, posting here. If it's really poxy we'll stand down, if marginal, we'll wait until after lunch on Thursday to decide. I have your contact details so I'll call around at that point. It is the personal decision of each skipper to join us or not...

Usually i consider a long range forecast as two days ahead - but friday at cushendall looking good, as is Easdale on saturday.

All looking good: collected boat from NARM yesterday, engine serviced, new VHF ariel and fuel gauge fixed..... Good to go.

Boat now in crana engineering getting the radar reflector attached to the A frame then I good to go.

As you mentioned our plan is to depart from greencastle (1230 Friday) we will rv with you all in Jura, once we confirm departure we'd or thurs I will get in touch and confirm an rv. Our plan is to camp, as for Saturday rather than a full circumnav of Jura I intend doing lough tarbert. Will see how we go though.

All copied Paul, sounds good. I'll be in touch midweek to keep you up to date. It is my intention to make the trip into Loch Tarbert (Jura) on Saturday before running south to Port Askaig so we're with you until then. Colonsay is nice, btw (and should have petrol) if you fancy a detour...

Yes I agree Ribochet. Currently I'm seeing wind increasing all day Friday - up to Force 6 by pm! Yesterday all I saw was a calm day for Friday!

SO lets wait till Wednesday and see what the Gods will bring us for the whole weekend - remember we also have to get back over on Sunday

Watched Countryfile tonite and the ex man said that the depression is over Canada at present and that its a long time do it may veer away north or south. It really is a fluid situation just watch this space as they say.

Agreed.
Another day another forecast.
Looking at my 6 different forecasters looks like F5/6 S.E. gusting 6/7.
Having to push against flood tide against wind will certainly make things very sporty {as will Red Bay Launch}. Thursday gives F4 gusting 5?
Just have to see any changes in weather later in week.
