I should be ok for a Fri lunchtime departure, driving up from Killarney Thursday night (without the rig!!), however I have to check the crew. (Both out of the country this weekend - sunning themselves in Spain the B@@@@@@s)

I agree with the route to Redbay but I have to say I use both - just whatever the mood takes me - coast road is prettier!

The Applegreen just north of Dublin is dearer than the Applegreen at Castlebellingham just further on up the N1! It is consistently so. Always annoys me to have to fill up coming out of Dublin knowing that if I could just squeeze a few more miles out I would get it cheaper .....

I take it the ground in Easdale is a bit tough Willk?

The "campsite" is a grassed over carpark, so far as I can tell. It's a good enough location beside the harbour, the houses/hill afford it some shelter. However, it is as hard as a goat's knee. Forget plastic tent pegs, ali pegs WILL bend but we managed. Best would be a few steel or titanium pins and a hammer. Only one of yiz needs to bring the hammer

I can bring my four Iceland Highlands grade corner "pegs" if anyone wants them - you could moor a RIB off one...

I had breakfast in the Oyster bar in 2011 - very good but £10. Might be worth checking out...

We made some pegs from reinforcing bar from B&Q they sell it in short lengths 10mm is ideal

Hi Tony see earlier post I said to willk that once he knows numbers I would book Oyster on Fri and Puffer on Sat for the main night it means were among the event craic. It just means that the company will be split when 11
O'clock comes as that's the last ferry between the islands.

An update from Jambo who was checking out dining arrangements for all the Ireland Boats crews - thanks Big Man!

The Oyster has decided to have two sittings this year due to previous business levels. Unfortunately the later sitting at 8pm is full, and the earlier at 6pm is just cutting it too fine given a lunchtime departure from Redbay. I know it's possible to make the trip in the time, but experience suggests that it would be very tight to do it comfortably and get squared away on arrival. It certainly wouldn't suit the campers!

So, we've booked the Puffer on the island for both nights - ALC on the Friday, Rendezvous gathering on the Saturday. We'll have a handy sized RIB available and handheld comms so we can ferry our own crews about if needs be.

There isn't much by way of a shop in Easdale, IIRC, so make your plans for lunch on Saturday in advance (buy it in Northern Ireland

)

As ever, we prostrate ourselves before the alter of the Weather Gods, may they forget to blow on us...

For sure. I was thinking of the first lunch. Does that yoke of yours not need two lunches as well? It's the risk of cannibalism that scares me...

Guys heads up just had Keren from the
Puffer on she would like some prior knowledge of our needs so she is going to email her menu for the Fri night. I will post on here and can all skippers advise me of their boat crews requirements and I will collate for her. It's be ause she is the sole provider of the Errr bash on the Sat night she wants to offer us as best she can. Dan don't worry there's a lorry load if spuds making its way to Easdale for the never ending chips!!

Stand back for my yearly post. I feel in some way obliged to defend my appetite. willk you can tell Dan that I have beefed on the weight for this years challenge. Jambo has been on tender hooks for 12 months as the ERR is upon us. It's the Big Mans Christmas and Birthday rolled in to one. Ill try and keep him grounded this weekend when we put the boat in. It's a balmy 6oC over here.. Can't wait. Hope the weather improves so that we see all you boys coming over the channel. The Caol Isla awaits! Ps The puffer has a cash dispenser. I saw it last year through the haze of whisky and top notch darts.
