Very close now, ran it up in the test bin yesterday afternoon with no problems.

Hoping for saturday afternoon, but it won't be quite finished. The A-frame is being modified and probably won't be back by then, may test it without.

Excellent project diary. Pics were great, looks like a new boat. Decided to postpone my refurb attempt until end of season as the boat would probably end up out of the water for the whole summer!
Did you encounter any serious problems during your refurb? Seems like a serious amount of man hours and labour!

Enjoy your NEW boat.

No serious problems other than a bodged repair on the hull that had to be redone and not having enough time, out in the garage til 3am on occasion. The non stop bills, changing my mind etc etc....

The Switch gear is industrial IP67 made by MOELLER. They are obselete now but the new range is called RMQ titan and is very similar and available at RS. They are very tough and brilliant as they fit in a 22mm round hole, you can choose wether they are rotary, latched, momentary, push button, key operated, black or silver bezel etc. You can fit up to 3 normally open, normally closed or a combination of both types of contact block on the back (I have two, one in use and one spare) and you can get legend pates for them aswell. Mine are fused seperately using an automotive 5 way fuse box.

I made the stainless plate myself, it's a bit of 316 plate cut from an old control panel and ploished up a bit.

hope this helps

how old was the PVC tube?

I'm considering a 2004 second hand Tornado with their heavy duty tube. I've always stuck with Hypalon, but the guy says it is as good as hypalon.

comments on the tube and boat generally?

tom

I think the tubes were less than ten years old when they became too much hassle to repair. I was told that hypalon was better and more easily repaired, so went with that.
hope this help.

Jiz just taken the time to read this thread and what a top job you have done there. Having been doing up our Tornado since we got it I know how much hard work you must have put in. Wanted to re do our paint/colour but dont have the room here to take on project like that. Keep the pictures coming. I wish we had taken more before starting.

Yes it is alot of work and I am fortunate to have the room to do it inside, but with the good weather coming you could achieve the same paint finish outside. With mine, I just decided I was going to go the whole hog and do it properly (nothing worse than a half arsed attempt) so I am taking my time. I have Learn't a great deal tho' in the last few months.
Hopefully it will be finished and wet by the end of May

Good luck with yours and try to post some pics!
