2013 summer holiday around the solent area

hello all, i am looking at planning a summer holiday around the solent area, we will be travelling from the northwest with two cars, caravan and rib in tow, we are looking for a camp site with slip way or one very close by, any advise, ideas will be much appreciated. any other southern areas are also up for consideration.

regards...........Shaun.......

Riverside Park is right next door to Mercury Yacht Harbour on the Hamble. The campsite facilities are basic, its mainly aimed at statics and lodges, but the marina is excellent .

RIBase
Good concrete slip at Mercury useable about hw +/- 4

Marina berths will be available and there is a special rate for up to 5.9m

Pub / restaurant at the marina and Hamble village about a mile walk

Can't comment on the camp site as not used it - but appears to get busy in the summer so must be ok!

How about Calshot, you can park caravan overnight and sail direct off the beach and also a slipway for all tides. Very quick access to all local beaches at Lepe and also The New Forest on your doorstep

Isle of Wight, Whitecliff Bay as example - see my video on the 'Video Camera' thread, you could spend a fortnight exploring the coast and still not see it all!!!

I went camping down Witterings area. That was good, nice beaches and you can launch the boat from a few different locations. I went for itchenor, nice and wide slipway.

Hurst View is just outside Lymington (5 mins drive to slipway) or there are loads of campsites (complete with ponies) in Brockenhurst - 15 mins from Lymington. You are then in the nicest bit of the Solent (in my opinion!)
