A couple more examples - again, if you are happy to trailer a heavier SIB then it is pretty unbelievable what amazing value and complete set ups you can get for around two grand, try pricing up each of these with all the extras at today's prices:

zodiac futura s sport mk1 rib sib boat with outboard and trailer | eBay

Zodiac Futura S MK1 with Mariner 20HP outboard | eBay

>>> inspected at each stage and the UK sales manager will deliver it (hopefully) soon.

Was this because of the trouble you'd had before... sounds a good service... fingers crossed it's a good one. I assume you'll make him sit with a coffee while you inflate it to check over!

Not sure but with a 25hp and the Futura Hull they will be pretty hairy at WOT - regardless they won't be Aerotec/Honwave s-l-o-w and both those packages are incredible value.

would you expect a futura with a 25hp to be quicker than an Aerotec with a 25HP ?

Ohh, I'm pretty sure - the Aerotec is a very draggy hull due to it's unique deep V - takes more power and is slower than a typical 'flat' bottom SIB for sure. The Futura has the 'speed tubes' which are designed to give better speed than a normal flat SIB let alone the BAT.

Speed is not everything of course, far from it - in the UK the ability to deal with typical chop is more important.

makes sense, I have a GT M2C (no speed tubes) at the moment and it's only been on the very best days I've been able to go really fast.

That's the limitation of *any* SIB in the UK, if you want to go fast *and* go out in most typical UK conditions you need a deep V Searider type RIB!

An Aerotec is as good as it gets in SIB-world but a Searider will leave it for dead.

That really does look a special outfit Max... always thought a red Futura one of the best looking SIBs. Re speed 32kts is going a bit but who knows... perfect conditions... one up... higher pitch prop than normal... buttocks tightly clenched??

Found three reports of Futuras on the net with 25hp 2-strokes... lightly loaded they claim 23.5kts, 24kts and 25kts so perhaps they're nearer the norm.

I think you're right - after Sean posted I Googled a bit and the MKII gives this on the manufacturer's data:

Outboard data
Shaft Long
Min recommended power (Hp - kW) 10 - 8
Max recommended power (Hp - kW) 20 - 15
Max power allowed (Hp - kW) 30 - 22
Max speed (Km/h - mph) 47 - 29
Folded boat dimensions (m - fi)

I think 25 kts in a SIB is more than enough!

Over to Fenlander - for the record my Zodiac Fastroller 3.4/Tohatsu 9.8 hit 17.5 or so (all these are WOT on a good day and maybe briefly - 16.5 is more typical) - my BAT and Merc 15 does about the same. Had a Yam 380 but that was slower with a 15, a Suzumar 3.6m did about 17 too with a 15.

25 will get you higher especially with the flat bottom Honwave but 25 kts is pretty fast - David?

Another very comprehensive Futura outfit with a 15:

zodiac futura s sport mk1 rib sib boat with outboard and trailer | eBay

Very easy to make money on these sorts of things - split and sell the trailer, engine, SIB, wheels, spares separately and after two or three like this you make enough to buy your own set-up for effectively nothing.

Max, that's the same boat you posted before but with a different engine:
