Will you be inflating/deflating every time you use it or will you be using a trailer?

And for clarity... my comments about flat and shallow V air floors in post #14 do not apply to the unique "Russian style" air floor of the Volaire model. It's a shame there isn't a lighter version of that design as... despite my enthusiasm for the (on order Elling)... it's always good to have choice.

If Excel ever bring out a 360 Volaire, I think I would be one of the first in the queue.

I have a honwave T38 and am very pleased with it. The new ones with the lack of tabs ar the back I suspect are even better

Did you ever work out the portable trailer for it?
You've had various engines, which one did you find suited best?

Having owned both I prefer the Excel. Infact my honwave t3.8 is for sale and being replaced with a Volante 390. I also have a Vanguard 435.

A few things to consider with the Honwave are, only one seat as standard. Extra seats are at cost, less protection on the underside compared to the Excel and warranty 2 year warranty compared to 5 years on the Excel.

I am very surprised Honwave didn't opt to extend the warranty period when they updated the range. In fact it puts them at a distinct disadvantage. I run a few owners groups on Facebook and was asked my opinion by Honda UK and put these points forward however nothing came of it.

On the 435 I use a 9.9hp Suzuki 2 stroke. On the t38 a 5hp mariner or Honda.

This year plan to buy a 20hp for the 435.

Just out of interest, what speed will the 435 manage with the 9.9hp Suzuki?

about 16mph (13/14 Knots) in ideal circumstances

Cheers. That's not bad. I have never run a 4m+ SIB with a 9.9hp (typically 20-30hp outboards).

All things considered 10hp I feel is the minimum I would want. I suspect speed falls off dramatically after that. Also over 20hp and your knot to hp ratio also starts to fall.

Yes agreed... on my 3.8 air floor I've used 8, 10, 15 & 20hp motors. If your load was light the 10hp was acceptable if a little limited but the 8 while it would plane OK with a very light loads was quick to fall back to displacement speed if circumstances went against it in loading or wind/wave conditions.

No on the trailer but the best engine for it in my view is the 15hp 2 Stroke
