Not yet. I've been combing CL this week and I've given myself another week to find something. I leave in a week and I may just buy something temporary just for the trip to try out then sell it. I wish I could borrow or rent but that does not appear to be an option.

Not sure I how I missed that one. I am waiting for a reply. I can't tell what shaft length it is. With my transom being 18.5" tall would it be bad to get a short shaft temporarily? I'm getting less picky by the day.

I also spoke to this guy but its not a tiller. How difficult and costly is it to change it over?http://portland.craigslist.org/grg/boa/4003651824.html

That's a good deal for a newer 25 hp, and Salem is close.

Also, here I another possibility. The add doesn't specify shaft length or if its a tiller, but the price is unbeatable for a 35 hp. You should reach out to this guy for details. It would be worth a drive to Bend for the price...

35 HP JOHNSON OUTBOARD RUNS GREAT

I think shorth shaft may be well too short. even at 17. it will raise too high.

As far as remote control motors. Why not keep it as such. I'm liking that idea. All you really need to get is steering tower. Like this for example Central Console System For Inflatable Boats, RIBs, Jon Boats.

It sold

I'd consider it but I am leaving in 7 days so too much of a project for now. I have yet to finish trailer, wire up new lighting for it.

I just need to get something temporary for the trip that I can try out then sell when I find the long term solution. E-tec hopefully.

Bend flaked. I have a 40hp Force by Mercury available but its not a tiller. Tiller handles are $200 new on fleabay. Is it a complicated ordeal to change it over to a tiller? I'm considering it.

Can't image being overly complicated if you got all the pars. You can always use tiller tandle just for steering and throttle for speed. Personally more I think of remote controls more I like it.

No lights. Only need those at night. Wasn't planning on boating at night. You can get battery powered LED lights at WestMarine WEST MARINE Portable LED Navigation Light, Bi-Color, Inflatable Mount at West Marine
Can you get one that is hypalon, not PVC?

Technically you can glue pvc to hypalon. Use two different glues. But haven't tried.

Same product is available from amazon for about 30% less

Found a short shaft that I am looking at this afternoon. Is it ok to use a short shaft with m 18.5" transom?

Measure shaft length. Bottom of mounting bracket to cavitation plate. If it's 17+ you prob be ok. Certainly want to keep those cooling inlets covered.

Perhaps this has been covered... Do the speed tubes affect how the boat sits in the water?

The speed tubes dont significantly effect how low the boat sits in the water at a stand still or slow speeds, but they can can certainly be noticed when on plane.

Well of course they do. They are buoyant. They make no difference as far as shaft length goes. Prop can sit higher often higher is better many racing boats use surface piercing prop for better performance. What matters are cooling intakes. They need to be under water when under way.

Well I bought it. $575 for a 1980 Johnson 35hp. Looks in good shape but I have yet to test it. The distance from inside of transom mount to bottom of cavity plate is 17.5".
