Worse. The pair are currently running daily passenger services on the west coast of Scotland. They'll have 1000 hours on them this season.

This is just to boost this back up the pile since I'm interested in the Yanmar 8LV/DZ370 combination. Any further news, especially from people with operational experience (Kintyre Express !!)? PeterWhite's `nice rib' thread reports an Arctic 37 on the Clyde with a pair of these engines. Given the date on his posts I guess its a pretty new boat with not much history yet but any updates there would be great.

Yes, I had a long chat with the owner of the Kintyre Express fleet in August. He services his own engines. He was VERY happy with the new engines. He has the derated 320hp units and reckons they easily outperform the Yamaha 315s he runs on the other boats, getting the big 11m boats up on the plane much quicker.

Apparently, they SOUND pretty good too:

Yes, ZT370s. So far so good, the first leg oil changes were clean. Hadyn pushes them well on too, cruising the loaded 11m at 29kts on passage to Ireland. You can often see him in the summer months on AIS.
