Angle of Vision
by
Robert Rendall

But John, have you seen the world, said he,
Trains and tramcars and sixty-seaters,
Cities in lands across the sea -
Giotto's tower and the dome of ST. Peters?

No, but I've seen the arc of the earth,
From the Birsay shore, like the edge of a planet,
And the lifeboat plunge through the Pentland Firth
To a cosmic tide with the men that man it

And so will you. You intrepid Orkney Expeditioneers. You too will sail between the islands of Orkney. You too will see the sun set over these beautiful and isolated islands. You too will see seas and lands that most RIBsters will only ever dream of seeing. You too will feel the clean sharp wind and spray of the islands in your face. For you are an Orkney Expeditioneer. However be warned. Once you too have been, you too will have felt the magic of the islands and you too will have to return someday.....

Hello folks

Well the time to book accommodation has arrived. Magellan Alpha and Cyanide are all booked up. Those on the mailing list will already have received a pdf file of available accommodation.

If there is anyone else who is seriously considering comming along then please contact me asap.

Thanks

I've just looked at the inshore forecast for The Pentland Firth for today (Sat 17/05/03).

I don't think I'd take Quicksilver across this morning!

Valid for 6 hours from 0600 GMT Saturday
Wind: E, Force 7 to 11 possibly 12 ( 36 - 76 mph)
Weather Moderate rain
Sea State Rough
Visibility 4 miles

Hi guys,
I'm 99% sure I'm coming on the trip (I've even booked time off from work). My dad's put us both up for it, but there's no mention on the website. Can you just confirm that Rozi and Alan Simpson are going on the cruise? Alan's Scuba diving in Corsica so I can't even ask him about it...

Cheers,
Rozi

We will be coming up, past Glasgow-ish, and on our way to John O'Groats for the Orkneys Expedition.
Do you want to join us on the last leg going past Kyle of Lochalsh and Cape Wrath, or will you trail to JOG and launch there?
