I think from the responses we've had it will definitely be Round the Island!

a group of us wants to come

we are a groub of rib's that for a while have only been on the lakes and unfortunatley we are not allowed to boat their any more. so we are up for a new adventure that will take us into open waters. as we have no experience on the sea this looks like a perfect oppitunity to get us started as we will have experienced drivers guiding us through. there will be about 4-5 rib's. Is this ok? although none of us have 4x4's so will any one be able to recover us if it's bad?

You're very welcome and there will be 4x4's to help out. The worlds strongest wufter (P D) will also be there to add a bit of muscle. PM me your phone number and I'll run through the kit you need.

There's countless threads on the forum ref. kit but as a bare minimum I'd suggest...

Boat
Engine that works
Anchor chain and warp
VHF radio and mobile phone
GPS
Flares
Basic tool kit
Spare 2/oil
First aid kit
Fresh water
Battered mars bars
Fags and rum
Suitable warm/waterproof clothing inc headgear and gloves
Lifejackets for all crew
Chart and passage plan
Food/Drink if you want to lunch in the Skerries lagoon or money to park and eat in Holyhead
Plan B if the weather's shite
Sunglasses so you don't get blinded from the glare off P Ds teeth........

and enough fuel for all the way round plus a third safety margin. There's no refuel facilities unless we can get a land crew in Holyhead to take cans to a service station.

I thought you could buy fuel from Beaumaris - you just need to anchor up and take a container up to the fuel pumps.
