Round Anglesey cruise 14 May 2005

Is there anyone interested in a day cruise from Conway to Caernarfon via Beaumaris and Menai on Saturday 14th May 2005? We have a measured amount of local knowledge down the Menai Straits and surrounding areas.

We thought we could meet at the public slipway next to the Conway Marina (excellent parking available) at 10.30a.m. to depart between 11.00 - 11.30a.m and head for Puffin Island off the East tip of Anglesey. (We may be lucky enough to see some of those little Puffins!) We would then head down past Beaumaris, Bangor Pier, under the Menai and Britannia Bridges, past Plas Newydd and onto Caernarfon for lunch and refreshments at approximately 1.30pm where we can tie up in the River Mouth next to the Castle and swing bridge, shops available (toilets available too!).

On the return journey we would stop at Beaumaris where you can visit the RNLI station, or shops and refreshments and toilets available nearby.

The last leg will be between Beaumaris and Conway so estimated time of arrival in Conway will be 5.00p.m. - 6.00p.m.

We have chosen the 14th May because high tide is approximately 4.00p.m. so all of this cruise will be done on an incoming tide, and we will be recovering ribs on the concrete slipway.

Weather permitting this should be an enjoyable cruise. For those who might be nervous about the Menai Straits don't be because we will be there to guide you through!

Come and join us and let's show those Southerners

I'm up for that but it'll have to be a long pub lunch. Conwy to Caernarvon is only an hour. How about a circuit of Ynys Mon. (Anglesey to you southern wusses) . A group of boats did this last year and had a really good day out. Even PhilDavies turned up.

David, we were going to do the "round the Island" trip later in the season but why dont we combine the two?

We thought if we had a good run we could carry on to Llanwyn so why dont we arrange that for those who don't fancy going all the way around stay with us and we will guide them back to Conway and for those who want to continue round stick with you?

So, should we have..........

............a show of hands - who's coming ?

I'll start. I'm up for it - I'll be alone so there's room for one or two if required.

I'll almost definitely be there, with or without RIB. I would be launching from Beaumaris if I bring my boat or would require picking up from Menai Bridge/Beaumaris depending on which way round we go.

Just a quick one before.......

......I depart for my hoilday (back on the 11th). Count me in as a defo but only if we're doing the full "Ellen" otherwise - the haul from Manchester via Abersoch to pick up MeMe ain't worth it.

If I can I'll log on from the Bahamas.... sorry - just had to get that one in
