Actually, if paid for through Paypal there is a certain amount of protection. I'm no fan of Ebay, profit is no.1 on their agenda. The punters don't even register on their scale.

Nosser, maybe one of us should contact Ebay. They should pull the listing, eventually. Guy's on these marine type forums tend to spot the outboard type scams, but how many other types of scam are going on on Ebay? Ebay must be very adept at keeping it all quiet.

I tried that the last time this happened. They ignored it for over a week and nearly 20 reports-until I found a fone number and rang them-and even that took several hours.

By that time the guy had sent rather convincing phishing emails to nearly 20 people and so on and so forth.

If it definately a stitch-up, why not put in a £1 million proxy bid, and one of us can nibble the bidding up?

What a pile of "Horse Shit". As you say, they've gone to considerable lengths to scam the crap out of some poor unsuspecting person. Well done TC, but where the hell are Ebay in all of this?!!

Here...

"Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay. Please allow me the opportunity to assist you with report concerning the user "burryleon". I understand how frustrating this situation can be for an eBay user.

Since the Seller has become "not a registered user", it is up to you to decide whether or not you complete the transaction. However, eBay does not suggest completing a transaction with an unregistered Seller because of the potential for problems.

Please understand that I am unable to provide reasons why this user is no longer registered. Also, I can't disclose information about whether they will be back on the site. However, if you are still unsure about what to do in this situation, you may want to take a close look at the user's feedback and see if there is any cause for alarm. If the user has numerous negative comments, then you probably would not want to complete the sale. Of course, the final decision is up to you.

To find out more about eBay's Trust and Safety policies please see the Rules and Safety pages at:

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/community/index.html

As always, my goal is to help you with your questions as quickly and accurately as possible. I appreciate your patience and understanding regarding this matter and wish you continued success on eBay.

Regards,

Charles Little

SafeHarbour Team"
