http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/5164172.stm

Have I missed it on here or has nobody mentioned this tall ships race? Limeydall would be in his element with this lot. Wish I was a bit closer - anyone been for a look???

It was a bit of a washout for the spectators as the fog closed in as they started was down to about 100mt shame as it did the same last year

There were a good few boats out but we saw nothing much considering there should have been 80 tall ships out for the start

Hope to get some video still posted later in the week

Codprawn,thanks for the links
Going off to sulk now. Will have to wait patiently for 2008 when the Tall Ships Festival is back in San Diego.
Nowhere near that impressive though! so still jealous
We do have the weather though
So can you divert a few off -course and over this way
cheers Dal

The first leg of the Tall ships race is from St Malo to Lisbon.
Some ships like Stavros S Niarchos are sailing from Torbay to St Malo to join the race.
See www.Tallships.org This is the Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT)

I'm sailing on the second leg from La Coruna to Antwerp in august and can't wait! That's on Prince William (also TSYT)

Prince William leaves London this Saturday (probably) bound for Newcastle, having sailed up from Torbay this week.

Then after the 2nd TallShips race, she comes into Ipswich on August 26th or 27th.
there was talk of calling into Brightlingsea atrea on the way up for an overnight anchorage, so plan on going down in the RIB to give her a buzz!

I can't wait to go sailing again!!!

Yes it was very as they were passing by in the shadows without a sound

Was even worse when you couldn't see anything else around at all

Big thanks to Colin for the trip out as I don't think my Bayliner was upto it !!
