SR 5.4 Whats it worth ?

I appreciate this may sound a bit weird coming from a trader but I don't really get involved in the Sea Rider boats normally (personally don't see the resale value others on here do in them) so would like some "experienced" advice on what this ones worth

Here's what I know so far

1990 Sea Rider 5.4 with flooding hull (has had bungs fitted to give option to block off or not). Good condition grey tubes with no loss of air. Painted (Antifoul) hull, original orange decks (no obvious repairs). Console seat. Bilge pump. Old VHF, Garmin 90 Fish Finder.

Sitting on a very good Snipe roller trailer (new bearings to be fitted).

Debating weather the fitting of such a motor would yield a better sale or should I keep it boat/trailer only. Still undecided as to re-curbing the entire rig as a mini project too

What's it worth ? Is it worth packaging up ? What would it be worth with a clean 1998 MERC 75hp 2 stroke (which I'd normally sell for £1,795 on its own) ?

Cheers

Interesting thread. I've never owned a Searider, but there are members here that regard them with reverence, regardless of age or condition. As far as I know the 5.4 is best paired with a Yammie 90hp.

I think the boat and trailer combo will sell as is, regardless of fitting the Mercury. There's always a demand for mid-sized 2-strokes, so I'm sure you'll find a buyer for it on its own.

Price... £2k.

Some links... May or may not help.

I suppose it all depends on wether the Engine really is good or has any defects like worn steering bushes or leaking oil tank etc, etc.

£2,000, Really ? Get your points ref selling the motor separate. Think that's the way to go. I'll get some pictures up soon so if anybody out there is after a SR let me know

Like anything it's what someone is prepared to pay. You've said the hull is solid (only downside is it's anti-fouled - however fine for someone who wants it in the briny from day one), its tubes hold air and it's sitting on a decent trailer. Add a decent 2-stroke, say up to £2k with usual cables, fuel tanks, etc, and you have a fantastic rib.

Look at the Ebay ad with twin Mariner 40s. Reckon they're mid 80's engines (worth nowt) and the Avon has seen better days... still asking £5k.

The Humber boats look good, but they're £3,500 - £3,995 and that doesn't include a trailer, say another £1,200 tops.

Fair points. These one was in use up until this week so with a motor there's no reason it could not get launched and used. I'm thinking of taking the Antifoul off and then putting it back to original orange.

Let's get some pictures up and see what it's worth then!

You must be a glutton for punishment. If you have some way of turning it over and can work on it from above then go for it. Will make it more saleable.

Nope. Was going to work from below

Maybe I will let somebody else have the "pleasure" of a mini refurb! After all that's all part of the SR club isn't it ?

Peter, its a lot of effort for only a little extra $. At the end of the day it will still be a searider, and therefore appeal only to searider type customers, who typically aren't buying on looks...

If it's tidy, as a package - engine and trailer included it's got to be worth £5k.

90hp would be preferable to 75hp though.

When I was looking for mine (10 years ago) I only considered boats with 90hp.
