Southwest small RIB sunday cruise

This morning the weather was perfect for setting off from Plymouth to head down to St Ives this evening, then tomorrow the plan is to head up to Lundy Island.

Doing long distances in small craft is great if you have the right kit, we launched two small 3.9-4m Seafury RIBs at 9am this morning, one fitted with a 60hp Yamaha, the other with a 70hp. Both carrying 85litres of fuel plus a small reserve tank.

The aim will be to camp on Lundy and explore the Island on Tuesday, weather permitting.

I took some photos on the blackberry before leaving, will report on tuesday. Should be in RIB Mag soon im sure.

Hope you guys had a good trip. I did Mylor to the Helford and back this afternoon in the SR4 and it was good fun. A bit of confused swell but nothing to bad. Should of been a nice run up along the North Coast to St Ives though.

Looking forward to the report and pics.

Boats are in at St Ives fine, was a little rough in parts, but all fine, was good weather and a fun run down.

Got in safely at just after 5.30, The boats have Hella LED lights in the hulls tunnel for use at night for vision forward with no glare on the boat.

The grey C Fury is an earlier model and the battery is located in the stern with a few other rigging parts, it has a heavier lay up in the hull too, so even though its powered by the 70, performance is similar to the white vession that runs the 60 and is rigged with weight more forward and a slightly lighter lay up.

You've made the local press (Evening Herald page 4) with a nice picture and write up

Best of luck to you!
