Need wife to get into boating atmosphere and possibly convince her to swop her Peugeot 306 for rib, Therefore need recomendations for local hotels with pool to keep everybody happy whilst Dad dreams of taking a rib out one day.
Please help asap

What sort of hotel do you need 5*? Or something a little more sensible? Where abouts? In Southampton city centre you have the Grand harbour (has a pool) and the holiday inn in west quay road, both of which give views of southampton water and are very close to town quay and ocean village etc. You could always try Lymington, or maybe the river hamble both of which would enable you to get in close proximity wth boating and are closer to the Solent. There are a couple of RIB charter places on the hamble or better still a few members of ribnet live close by and may be able to help you if they can.

we used this company last year, a gift from a bearing rep:
www.specialistribcharters.co.uk
or
http://www.clipper-ventures.com/
http://www.solentribcharter.co.uk/
http://www.rib-hire.com/

Lets face it, If you get the right weather and a nice boat for a few hours, most people get hooked straight away. Your wife may well trade in the Peugeot before you get home!!!

Hi Phil,

The pool makes it alittle more awkward, which was why I didn't try yesterday. If you are thinking of coming down to Saxon or drivers wharf the the Travel Inn is much closer. . 500m away

Failing that the Holiday inn is OK and is close to the major shopping centre and only 1.5.miles away from The Wharfs and easy to find.

I am going passed the hotel today I'll nip in and find out if they have a pool and let you know the number. I have to pass the hotel as I spent too lomh on the pub in Ashlett creek and all the water had gone when I came out. whoops

I am sure we will be able to get a landlocked person out on the water for free.

cheers
Stuart

Portsmouth, is great, lots to do, loads of ribs and boats about. A good hotel is the Holiday Inn near the sea front. Has pool etc.

I think the locals pronounce it booooleeeey it has the National motor museum in it, which will be very interseting for you wife and daughters. It's also a long way from civilisation. i.e 30 minutes drive from Southampton.

I checked out the Holiday inn and they have a special family rate of 95 poonds per night for the 4 of you and they do have a pool.

If the weather is nice I'll come and pick you all up in the Rib at Bucklers hard, but if it's choppy it's best you drive to Southampton and mess about in Southampton water and the Itchen.

Lymington is a nice place too visit by the way, you can go Scorpion spotting there also.
