That Searider 5.4 looks perfect for some wave bashing fun. Pitty it's in South Hampton and not Chicago! I'd buy it on the spot

I may be wrong and out of touch but I thought they seem very pricey for the condition they appear to be in.They do have one with an engine and white painted trailer for 9,500 pounds I would have said 6,000 tops .What does someone in the know think. Are they priced right

For in the UK probably

From what I've seen on the various UK websites it boils down to age, powerplant, and trailer. A good combo will fetch better money. Since they are everywhere in the UK I imagine they'll fetch less than over here.

I spent a whole 2 years looking for the opportunity to jump on one almost regardless of the condition. Fortunately I got a decent one recently.

I've seen and heard prices between £1000 - £10,000 so it probably boils down to how its fitted out and the wear.

Not sure the new tubes would have the reinforcing patches, straps etc. Even in poor condition the old tubes are incredibly strong.

RIBase
Take a look around the rest of the babcocks site-Everything on there is heavily overpriced. I did some research on the prices of the JCBs they have for sale on there and they are actually more expensive than civvy gear with the same age and hours.

Most of these places seem the same - Witham's LandRover's are also way overpriced but I am sure they are only guide prices - bet they are open to haggling!!!

Rogue Wave,

At first I was turned off by the tubes but I'm starting to take on your approach, the uglier the better! Well almost...

In all honesty though I've been looking into the materials a little more. Is it correct to say that the older Avon tube material is Hypalon on both sides instead of neoprene on one side and hypalon only on the outside? Judging by how durable the hypalon on the outside is, I imagine the insides must look pristine.

Wouldn't double sided hypalon last quite a bit longer than the newer fabrics? I know the older material is heavier too.

I don't know about the durability but the test is in the tubes onthe seariders which are very old in some cases and still going strong.

Re weight of material I guess the heavier stuff is still available but it would cost more? so manufacturers would use lighter stuff, maybe,

dont forget your boat is Mil spec and that's always been over specced

my searider apparently came direct from the mod via a tender bid in 2000 - successful bid was £1000 minus engine and trailer but with steering, console and lights - if such auctions still exist this has got to be the way to go!

Does look that way generally - but I did buy a Rigid Raider in good condition from them last summer for £400 - I think they sold all 20 within a fortnight - it was the lightweight HHRC as well supposed to be have been kevlar/epoxy...
