Searider SR4 flooding hull hatch

Finally decided to have a try at blocking my searider flooding hull. Pro’s and con’s each way I know

The drain hull in the transom is 3 inches. The smallest water tight hatch I could find was 4 inches. It needs a hole this big to recess the threaded part of the hatch into. You can’t enlarge the Searider hole due to the floor and outer hull.

You could put the base ring on inside out. But having a 3d printer I quickly made an adapter ring to make the hatch fit flush over the hull on the transom.

Took 2 mins to design and 2 hours to print [emoji1]. Got some quality marine sealant and a couple of rubber bungs for the air holes up front so we’ll see how it goes.

Hope this helps someone at sometime [emoji1303]

Nice solution, but there are stainless hatches which are bang on the right size for the hole - no modification required.

Lots of useful Searider specific advice on "Avon Searider Owners" on Facebook.
