Scorpion closing?
Just spotted this post on the scorpion fb page does this mean they are ceasing production untill new owners are found? Seems like an odd thing to post anyone in the know?

I had read late last year that they had secured new investors, perhaps it's fallen through.

Looks like it has, a few comments on the fb page now saying sad times, I'm surprised i thought they had a good following & didn't seem to participate in the smaller end of the market where you'd expect the chinese tat to have a negative affect

I recall looking at these Ribs at recent shows and felt that they were way way over priced. I remember looking at one at SIbs and it had the same speakers on it that I had recently bought from eBay for about £20 for the pair

I'm actually surprised their struggling I thought the higher end domestic builders were doing okay ribcraft & redbay seem to be doing fine. like you say, a big loss if they do liquidate, the inevitable spin off or pheonix companies rarely succeed afterwards.

maybe they relied too much on the super yacht market. had a good look around the one at Southampton last September, attention to detail was second to none, didn’t ask how much, us pensioners have to look after the pennies but as you say, unlikely that if anyone did buy the name it would be as good a boat in the future

Yes you could be right I hadn't thought of the Ukrainian war affecting uk boat builders but presumably the superyacht tender market has fallen through the floor
I guess if investors can be found sharpish they might save things for the future but if as you say the name is sold & assets auctioned off then the chances of survival are slim imho

I was out for a meal before christmas with a well known superyacht tender builder and he reckoned business was booming.
However - I think superyacht tenders have become a bit more elitist these days - scorpion and others are still standardish boats - but superyacht owners want bespoke - which is what Falcon do. Every boat is bespoke - the hull is a one off every time. Does sir want to spend 1-200K on a "conventional" tender, or does sir want something unique and individual for 1M and upwards?
