Marina booking in France

I am sure plenty of you have experience with this and what to expect.

I have (through a French holiday operator) contacted a French marina to try and reserve a berth during my holiday.

They requested, and I have provided, copy of boat registration details, EEC conformity and VAT invoice. Then I wait, and wait, and wait... "Processing papers" is the only update.

Does it really take weeks? Or have I just fallen on a useless agent?

Strange they never requested your insurance details...which marina is it?

One of the marina's we regularly book our current and past boats into takes a few months to confirm availability. It is a pain but not uncommon.

RIBase
Of the few French marinas we've visited, GrandCamp-Maisy, St Vaast & Cherbourg, we've just pitched up & never been asked for anything apart from money.

No insurance requested. Although, TBH, it would be irrelevant as it needs renewal before the trip.

The Marina is Valras Plage on the south coast.

It is a small marina and I need to be sure I am in for two weeks, so pitch up and hope is not much of an option really.

Hey PD

You've probably never been asked for insurance because, unlike me, the look of your rib and the way you handle it doesn't scream out "liability" :-)

Totallydave, don't sweat it too much for now, life in France generally proceeds at a much slower pace than in the UK.... Especially where administrative matters are concerned.

If you like, PM me some details and ill give them a call.

Simon

Thanks for the offer of calling them, I will hang back for a couple of weeks and see what happens, then perhaps take you up on the phone call after that :-)
