Hydromax Ribs

Anyone know anything about them? saw them at the show yesterday and thought the it had a very narrow hull profile.

Anyone got any experience of them?

Saw them last year at boat show in MDL marina in southampton, the main chap used to work for Cobra perhaps you can see some simularities, look nice Ribs, the one I looked round a 7.5m ish version looked nice but with a few bits that needed more work, think it was a prototype, sit rather low on the tubes, haven't made my mind up about them yet. They have built a 11M version and there is a review in the new sportsboat and rib magazine so worth getting a copy. Luxury/Sport end of market rather than commercial, some bits from US like bolster seats. Yes looked rather narrow.

Their smaller one I believe is based on a phantom 21 hull as I think they own the mould for the hard boat. The 11 meter's hull was designed by Adam Younger. I used the 11 meter to take some friends on holiday in Dartmouth. On the passage down the coast the weather was pretty horrible during the high winds a month ago, although their were a few minor teething problems, the boat seemed to be very solid and well built.

They showed me around their little factory in Hythe were they had a 7meter in build all looked good to me. Never used the small sister of the 11 meter, however if its based on the phantom hull it should be pretty exciting - looks a good family boat.

Tom, was that you doing the trip that is reported on the Hydromax website. seems some damage although dont doubt the conditions were not great!!

Looked a nice set up, didnt have too much time to look too hard but the engine well and rear seat set up do look very "cobra" like.

Nice boats and Phantom based hull will be good im sure!

That was my first thought too but if its phantom based that would explain things!

Did like the bolster style seating on the larger one at the show. looked really nice! good to see something different out there.

From my side I have been very pleased with how the 11m design has gone into build - and a number of interesting hull details incoporated into the design.

All of which I believe has gone to give a really good balance of performance and handling. Not that narrow in my opinion for a performance hull at around 2.8m. Also it has been designed for shorter versions from the same hull too.

So far speeds / performance have exceeded the initial brief (and calculations) - so lots of potential for this all new RIB.
