Or I could just be happy with the mag lights I bought for £18 and not get involved with all the faff. But thanks for the heads up.

I suppose it is a case of using a simple item that works fine rather than complicating things for little or no benefit

This sorts the led issues some car have
So £70 for an additional item to faff with or just use the mag lights I bought for £18 and perhaps replace a bulb on occasion.

The title of this thread is Easy light Board. Not complicated Expensive light board

I really like the idea of not having to remove your lightboard, but, as ShinyShoe intimates in #5 (I think), it's difficult to envisage where your lightboard is situated so that it isn't damaged when you put your boat on and off the trailer. Could you put up a photo so that we can see how it all works?

Not the best photos, but you get the gist. The lights are on retractable arms that tuck in under the hull when retracted. The lights are submersible by design and are still going strong after 8 years. They are LED & don’t throw any dash errors. The lamps and number plate arrangement are all road legal. The trailer also has amber side markers built in.

Well i have three choices ,i have a short lightboard (no indicator lights ) which strings between the lights with the bungees (led number plate led,s running from pp9 on back )
Or ...i fit same board to a frame high up

or thirdly i push in behind back jockey seat going local

or finally i put it in my boot so i can tell the officer it just fell off and i lost the bungee

but yes the number plate is the issue ,but as i have said before on here ,living near felixstowe port there are hundreds of lorry trailers with the number plates swinging on bungees on the containers ,so i am not sure this is easily policed !

Remember you can have 1 metre of load overhang after your lights

This is useful, ta. Have been trying to work out what to do with the number plate without it all ending up looking a bit heath robinson.

I have therefore fixed some metal plate to this old board. Cut of the flex and bought a set of magnetic lights. We run the cable over the top of the boat and these can be took of and put back on quite quickly. Here is a link to the ones we bought for £19 I deliberatly did not want LED as they don’t flash the icon on my dash.

These save time are easy and no more poking a long light board into the car

I recommend a bit of bungy or rope to stop them slipping off when you go over a speed bump or big pothole. Voice of experience!

I have put the boat on and off the trailer with the lightboard on more times than I can count. Remember the trailer is in the water and the boat floats. No need for a picture

I have a lip on the bottom and side of the metal plate for just such a situation. Don’t want ropes or bungees if possible. This is all about reducing faff at the slip

And yet you still went with a cabled solution.

I'd have a wired solution too, tbf. There's just something iffy about relying on wireless signals for safety equipment that I doesn't sit right with me.

I hear you. And yet that 10m long bit of wire and halogen bulbs is “classically” unreliable.
I had a light fail on me 2 weeks ago. Except it hadn’t failed, it was just flashing dimly and one of the plugs needed a wiggle. Trailer lights are the devils own job.

Now I see how Pikeys solution is low faff.

But without a picture there are at least two of us on here who are just bemused how you get your boat over the trailer board. AND you are still faffing with magnets.
