Cork to Baltimore 02.01'10

Just to prove that winter boating can be fun.

We left Crosshaven this morning in -4degree sunshine at 10.20am and headed west.

We almost had the whole south west coast to ourselves until we passed a yacht outside Kinsale.

On reaching The Galley Head we came upon a huge pod of about 50 Dolphins playing in the crisp sunshine.

We arrived in Baltimore at 12.30pm and soaked up the famous West Cork atmosphere.

After refreshments and some ice-skating we left Baltimore at 3pm with the sunset to our backs and arrived back into Cork at 5pm just as night was falling.

Here is a short clip of our trip.

Enjoy

Sounds like a cracking start to the year . In all fairness, you have the boat for it.

We'd have been out but the rib is ice-bound at home, 3cm of ice on the brae, feck it.

Thanks Willk.

Yes it was great to be out in the winter sun and the dolphins made the trip worthwhile for my 4 year old son who was with us.

The original plan was to bring the 2 boats but when we arrived at the marina there was no contest, everybody piled into the cabin boat.

Here's hoping for lots of good weather for boating in 2010.

We were out & about in Cork harbour yesterday too, it was freezing but we were well wrapped up, it was really good fun, especially the hot whiskey at East Ferry!

Sounds like Cork had a good New Year. Far too cold up here. Ice and snow abound! Roads like ice rinks. No chance of getting the boat out.

Good luck to you Baydreamer!
