Yes that certainly is the plan. The boat is effectively ready now bar about 2 jobs. Off to Scotland soon for a few days in the Motor home with our Honwave though. So hoping for some decent weather

With this boat comes a decent sized pot (about 1/2 ltr) of the grey touch up paint. I am going to make a Rod holder out of sink waste pipe (Risking the sky falling in of course by not buying a 'Genuine' Part). The pipe I have is white and will stand out a bit as I will be fixing it to the rear seat at the back. I am going to see if this supplied paint will take to the plastic pipe

you will need to apply a coat of adhesion promoter first can be bought in aerosols.google plastic primer /adhesion promoter.or the paint wont stick

There will be a post on here in a few months about needing to find a matching touch up paint .. coz the pot he was given is empty

I thought the weather was warming up a little and was going to do the outer CT1 sealant to the console and seat.... Turned cold again though. The sealant seems to work a lot better in warmer temps

I stick my sikaflex on the radiator to warm it a little, in manufacturing its pumped through heating zones in the pipes/ nozzle before its applied

TBH, I am not that impressed with CT1, we used it on our kitchen refurb, and I needed to remove some upstands as we (she) had a change of mind and wanted to continue the tekwall. I was expecting the upstands to be a bummer to remove and maybe damage the plasterboard, but with a little prodding from a flat blade scraper, they came away easily.


On the boat I only use PU adhesive, usually Sikaflex,Tiger seal, or panel bond, and I know from experience that anything stuck with PU ain't going to come off easily (if at all in some cases)

I have used CT1 for several projects and also Sikaflex. I prefer CT1 based on my experience but both are very good

Yes putting it on the radiator before use certainly helps. I also want a reasonably dry environment for this final stick down also

i agree re ct1 i have tried it at work on a few jobs and it was no use at all terrible compared to the sikka flex or tyga seal i normally use . for automotive bonding applications fibre glass to steel or steel to steel pu adhesives only

I think I will do a test between Sikaflex 291i and CT1.

One of the issues is I can’t seem to buy Sikaflex 291i in clear

i used black as thats my hull colour i used it to bed down the jockey seats on my humber along with some 18mm no 14 self tappers the only prep was a wipe down with thinners.there was no more than a sheet of paper thickness bed of 291 once the screws were fastened down.
when i came to remove the seats to fit the suspension seats i found after removing the screws i could have lifted the whole rib off the trailer by the seats they were not budging .i initially tried using a car windscreen removal wire no use as i couldn't get a linear pull and the bed of 291 was too thin for the wire .i ended up using heat and a multi tool and plastic wedges to inch by inch get the seat away from the deck before i started using the heat it was pulling the flowcoat off the deck . took all day to remove and clean up 2 jockeys .
that stuff is a strong bond grp to grp .
i have also used it to bond a small flat piece of perspex to the outside of the transom to mount a transducer initially it failed quickly as the perspex is too smooth for a key but second attempt using an adhesion promoter and a scotchbright has seen it on solid for over 2 years
